Hi all. SWM 38 in St. Paul. Joined long ago, but went dormant for 1 1/2 years, now back. Have ad currently in personals (as of 3/29).

Welcome rolloplay :)

Let's keep posting, everyone, gotta keep this thread going...

OK, so here's a question that I've been thinking about. I know there's Sex World in Minneapolis...but in Boston and New York there are all these cute little shops with friendly people who actually know what they're doing...are there any of those kinds of shops in Minneapolis, or are we stuck with the lovely warehouse style of Sex World? Nothing against it, really....of course it offers a larger degree of anonymity, and for people who are a bit squeamish about asking questions, it's perfect since there is no one walking around to help you. But I am definitely more impressed by the shops I've seen lately, where the employees know nearly everything about what they're selling. Anyway, the point is, does anyone know of a smaller, more personal sex shop in the Twin Cities area?

Enjoy your weekend while it lasts, guys!

I've wondered the same, actually, especially since getting back from Boston. Even Portland had better stuff than Sex World.

Hmmm interesting question... I've never been to sex world ... I shop a lot on-line but there are a few smaller shops around depending on what you are seeking. I know of one I run to on my lunch hour sometimes ... Fantasy Gifts ... they have several locations ... the one I stop in at is 201 W. 7th St. 1 Blk. S. of River Centre right next to the hotel on the corner. You can find more info and other locations too at their website !

Hope that helps! :rose:

Hope y'all had a great weekend!

Hope y'all had a great weekend!

Thanks...I'll have to check it out when I'm home again. It's looking like I might be staying a little while after finals, but that should be fine, since I'll still be home for more than three months over the summer. Of course I'm homesick now, but that all changes after a few days with my parents :p

Smile everyone!!

Fantasy Gifts

I agree, Fantasy Gifts is one of my favorite sex stores...I like to shop at the one close to me on Hwy. 13 and County Rd. 5 in Burnsville...happy shopping...

Happy April Fool's Day guys! I would do something sneaky, but I don't think I'm that creative.

Oh yeah, and fyi, Secretary is coming out on DVD today. Definitely stop by and either rent or buy it, it's AMAZING. As soon as I'm done with classes today, I'll be right over at Blockbuster looking for it.

Smile everyone :D

Just trying to keep this thread alive....

OK, guys, so what are your favorite restaurants/bars/whatever to go to? Just trying to get a few preliminary ideas for the Lit getogether.....only requirement is they have to accept everyone over 18. No 21+ places, guys :p

Keep posting, everyone! If you know of any events or anything, keep everyone posted....and I guess I'll share anything interesting from Boston, too.

Happy weekend + Friday! Hugssssssss all around!

One more thing guys...I just found this online.

Barnes and Noble has lots of book clubs all around the metro area....and at the Brookdale Mall they have a Romance book club called Hearts Afire. It meets the third Wednesday of every month at 7 pm. I don't know anything else about it, you'd have to call the store, but I just thought I'd let you guys know in case anyone's interested.

That said, happy weekend (again!), and good night.

Hugs back atchu KeraniLuna! Sounds like you've been busy ... hmmm, do you think the romance book club would delve into the saucier classics ... I notice you pull some sweet quotes for some wonderful reads ... I have a list of books to read... and have been building my library of erotica... both classic and contemporary. I've been reading Aureole by Carole Maso of late and exploring the poetry of Constantine P. Cavafy, greek poet.

One of his poems ...

Remember, body...

Body, remember not only how much you were loved,
not only the beds on which you lay,
but also those desires which for you
plainly glowed in the eyes,
and trembled in the voice -- and some
chance obstacle made them futile.
Now that all belongs to the past,
it is almost as if you had yielded
to those desires too -- remember,
how they glowed, in the eyes looking at you;
how they trembled in the voice, for you, remember, body.

Constantine P. Cavafy (1918)

Be well and have a wondrous weekend!

I'm not sure about the Romance club....maybe it's worth a try, who knows....

I have also been building my erotica collection. Not an easy task in college, but I've learned to endure the good-natured teasing from my friends and just read what I like. I even went to the reading of Best American Erotica 2003 at a local bookstore, and told my friends where I was going! :p I've discovered that my friends here, as naive as they are, are still willing to deal with my passions, which is VERY cool.

OK, this time it's for real......good night everyone :)

:rose: ~ kerani ~ :rose:

well whatever happens with this meet up... i would be down for... that book-club idea sounds great... or we could do something else but keep me posted about it all.. because i don't want to miss this..... but i should get going.... so i catch you all later...
PeaCe... out...
 :rose:

Now you've done it K~

Building an erotica collection needn't be terribly expensive if you are resourceful. :) I have two kids, so I know how things can add up quickly. I love to rummage through used book stores. You can often find erotica books for a steal if you don't mind that someone else may have had the pleasure prior to you. I think that is it exciting to think that I am sharing the experience, although a bit after the fact.

Generally speaking, book readers take good care of their books, and you probably won't find many that have been too terribly "absued" ~ Just a thought KeraniLuna ... many of the used book stores also take trade-ins for store credit, so you can get rid of books you don't want and exchange them for the ones you do.

One beautiful find I discovered while on vacation in NM at a used bookstore was one by the Kensington Ladies' Erotica Society ... called Ladies' Own Erotica. The reason I mention this find in particular, is because the "Ladies," a group of women that could be your neighbor or mother put their stories together and published them. But what else they have done is to support the notion that if the idea of an Erotica Society appeals to you, then why not form your own. They believe that kindred spirits will reveal themselves if the word "erotica" is whispered enough, and soon enough you will have your own soicety in which to share stories.

Now, you can find this book at your retail book outlets, as I have found it on BN's website (new). For gift giving or for the truly anal retentive. ;) Just goes to show you never know what you will find when treasure hunting.

OK I'll stop rambling, but you've stumbled upon something that I truly enjoy and interests me.

Happy hunting ... and K~ I'm smiling :D

Hello all you wonderful friends...
It's been too long since I've been here. Things get hectic when wedding bells start pealing. (Not mine...my sis is getting married. I'm the man-of-honor. And, I must say, as a man, it's an interesting experience to throw your own sister a bachlorette party. *L*)
Anyhoo...it's great to be able to poke my head in here and say HI.

Salacious: Used book stores are a ton of fun. I've spent many a dollar (usually one or so at a time) in Half-Priced Books. There are some great finds to be found. When you mentioned the Kensington Ladies' Erotica Society, were you just mentioning it as a point of fact....or were you implying that we should start our own? Or, perhaps, a bit of both? And could I join a Ladies' Erotica Society? (After all, I have been to a bachlorette party. Does that fulfill my requirements of an honorary membership? *L*)

Kerani: Thanks for keeping the thread alive, and for your involvement in getting a Mn Lit group get-together going. You may (should you so choose) add my name to your list. 26/m from the north-eastern suburbs. If there's something you need me to do, just let me know. I can't promise to be able to do everything, but I can try. ;)

Hugs and kisses to you all....

I mentioned the Kesington Ladies, because it is a cool idea.. I think if a group were interested in doing something similar ... not necessarily for publishing, but to share would be an idea to explore. It could be for writing or reading ... reason I listed it as an Erotica Society ... I think men have much to offer .... :D ... I know you do!

Just some ramblings of a salacious mind. ;)

Thanks salacious.....I'll think about the used book thing.....I generally don't like used books, though, there's something special about the fresh crispness of new books that makes me happy. It's gotta be only child syndrome :p

The real challenge of getting books now is finding a place to put them that isn't too conspicuous....as much as I am not ashamed of what I read (at all!), I don't like the idea of people meeting me for the first time and only seeing the books, and I know that is what many people do, even if they shouldn't. Of course, that doesn't mean that I hide them....I just don't want them to be so prominent in my room that everyone just thinks of me as the kinky, weird girl in 202 and doesn't see anything else about me :)

TF, I'll definitely add you to my list. And thanks for the offer....I'll keep you in mind if I need some help :)

Hehe, I hate to post a third time in a row...but I just wanted to say I think that's a great idea.....I'm not sure I'd do the writing part (although I love to write, I don't have enough confidence in my writing to share it)......but definitely the reading :)

Did anyone see Secretary yet? If not, I definitely recommend it...it's a terrific movie.

Hugsssss to you all, I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Anything new and exciting back home?

Anyone else want to get on the list for the getogether? I'm thinking I'll know when I'm going to be home by the end of this month, and then we can start figuring out a date and location....

Can't wait to get home.....LeeAnn Chin, Caribou, the Mall of America......and some time alone in my room, for once

Hmm, happy Tuesday guys :)

*tosses a snowball at KeraniLuna...then smiles all cute and innocent* :D
We got some snow here, just in time for my sister's wedding. *L* It melted away quickly enough, though. Hurry home, and we'll try to keep the weather chilly enough for you to play in some real Minnesota snow when you get back.
And...about your writing. I guess I can't speak for everyone, but I'd love to read some of your writing. I promise not to rip it to shreds. (Well, not literally, anyway. *W*) But I think that part of the whole "Society"-thing was that you'd be able to have a safe, comfortable environment in which to share and grow. Everyone's nervous the first time...but there's no need to be afraid around us (or, at least, me.) But, if you are, hold it (keep writing, though), and when (if?) you are comfortable with it, feel free to share.

Hmmm...I think I'll step down off of this soapbox now before someone tries to kick it out from under me. *L*

Hehe, thank you :)

I think I may work a bit on writing (seeing as I haven't done much lately), and perhaps bring some to the Lit thing in May....and if I feel like I've finished something enough to share earlier, I'll definitely post it here....

*goes outside, gets some fresh Boston snow, and tosses it at TF* hehehehehehe, gotcha :p

Hey TF, did I ever get your a/s/l for the getogether? Or are you not planning on coming?

Ahhhhh, here I am, posting yet again!

It seems we have many, many guys and not so many girls.....anyone know of any girls from MN who would like to come? Send them on over to this thread :)

Anyway, glad you're planning on coming :) Should be interesting. I'm really hoping to find more women...just would be nice.

OK, I am off to NYC for the weekend, all, I shall talk to you later.....have a terrific, wonderful Friday and weekend!!!
