Elsewhere in this forum I've read comments from people who knew the old interactive stories and they've lamented the lack of posts in the new system.
I think that this problem must be partly due to editors starting stories, approving a few (or none at all) new pages and then vanishing. Indeed, I don't mean to suggest that once you start a story here on Chyoo then you're signing a contract in which you promise to be around forever.
Some editors are great. My page submissions are approved within hours - minutes sometimes. I make a point of only submitting to stories which I have seen a recent post in because this means that the editor must be active. Nonetheless, I'm still waiting for some approvals.
I suggest then that after a peroid of time in which the editor fails to approve or deny any new pages that a new editor with the powers to approve pages is added to the story. If the original editor wishes to maintain soul control of the story then he can avoid this by writing pages for his own story and this seems fair enough.
Much of this can be coded as to save Chyoo/LitE staff from extra work. It'll be easy enough to use the dynmaic pages so that a button "Editor Application" appears only once the story and its editor have been idle for too long. In addition, there is already a system which tracks user's experience on Chyoo stories and so it should be easy enough to code it that only people with X amount of experience will be able to click the "Editor Application" button.
The approval of new editors could be automatic or governed by hand (as the creation of new stories currently is). Please note that I'm not saying the old editor is kicked out or the story's founder re-credited, simply that a new editor is added to the list of people who can approve pages and keep the story alive.
Replies welcome!
