Missing author

What does it mean when an author suddenly disappears? 'Phoenixbreez' was there t'other day but is now 'This member does not exists' (sic).

The search functions but - returns: 'no items found'

I'm sure there is some nefarious plot an' I'd like to know what it is.

That usually only occurs at the request of the author. Apparently they did not just want to remove their stories from here, but wanted their account deleted.

A couple of reason could be they want to publish for $$$ and needed to take the work down or perhaps they were "found out" by someone who never knew they wrote this stuff.

But those are only theories only they know for sure and seems like they;re not telling.

Usually it means that the author has started selling their stories and a condition of the sales is that he/she hasn't got them posted on a free site.

Make sure you put the name exactly right. I was looking for someone the other day and I wrote a _ in their name by mistake so I thought they'd disappeared.

I know that sometimes authors do have good reasons why they have to ask for their material on here to be deleted, though.

Actually I deleted my account at the time as sections were being plagiarised and RL got in the way of policing my story. I have not published anything for £££/$$$ as personally I don't want to. A short story is on another platform but it is not the story on here.

I have stuff for sale through D2D, but I still like putting things up here, too. Mostly, my short-form work, then I will put longer works (Pun?) up for sale.
