(graphic/ the text is quote "DISGRACEFUL: US women's soccer team members
turn their backs to 98 year old WWII vet playing the national anthem")

Right-wing site The Post Millennial ran an article saying US players were
"DISGRACEFUL" for turning to the right during the anthem...
...then, when that nonsense was debunked, they changed the article
to say *the other* players were "DISGRACEFUL" for *not*
turning to the right.

Some right-wing outlets and pundits spread a phony story about US soccer players
turning their backs on an elderly vet (they'd turned to the flag). Then, post-debunking
one site seamlessly switched to attacking the players who *hadn't* turned to the flag:

Marjorie Taylor Greene was rebuked by White House press secretary Jen Psaki
for again referencing the Nazis in an attack on Covid vaccinations.

Ms Psaki said on Wednesday that the White House did not pay attention to the GOP
congresswoman’s advice on Covid, and told CNN: “We don't take any of our health
and medical advice from Marjorie Taylor Greene, so I can assure everyone of that”.

“It’s up to every individual to decide whether they’re going to get vaccinated, but …
this is about protecting people and saving lives,” Ms Psaki added.

“That’s a role we’re going to continue to play from the federal government, use any
of the tools and tactics that we think will be effective.”

It came after Ms Greene compared vaccine workers to “medical brown shirts” who were
“showing up” at people’s doors. She also wrongly accused President Joe Biden of using
Covid as a “political tool to control people”.

Bill Barr Defends Pristine Reputation For Probity, Forthrightness
From Some MAGA Asshole US Attorney

July 14th, 2021

The second leg of today's mortification tour takes us to Pennsylvania, where Republican
legislators screech that election laws they themselves enacted were somehow an illegal
effort to steal the state for Joe Biden

(...)

"President Trump, you were right to be upset about the way the Democrats ran the 2020
election in Pennsylvania – it was a partisan disgrace," he hyperventilated, before going
on to accuse Bill Barr of blocking his efforts to investigate the rampant vote fraud which
supposedly cost Trump the Keystone State and its 20 electoral votes.

(...)

- William McSwain, the former US Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania

But back to Bill Barr, who is diligently trying to launder his reputation after rolling
in Trump shit for two years. The former AG hurriedly rushed to at least three media
outlets to refute the story...

(...)

"It's very cutely written," Barr told Politico.

"Any suggestion that McSwain was told to stand down from investigating allegations
of election fraud is false. It's just false," Barr continued with the Washington Post,
adding that McSwain admitted "he was in a tough spot because he wanted to run
and he needed Trump's at least neutrality, if not support."

"He told me that he had to do this because he was under pressure from Trump
and for him to have a viable candidacy he couldn't have Trump attacking him,"
Barr complained to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania's Attorney General Josh Shapiro, a possible Democratic
gubernatorial candidate, seized on McSwain's letter to point out that McSwain hadn't
done shit about any of those purported electoral fraud cases.

"I thought I could have had some influence on election officials, if I'd been more vocal."

Another Day, Another Story On All The Ways Bill Barr Tried To Ratf*ck The DOJ

Yesterday the US District Court in DC issued a scathing order in one of several recently
revealed Trump-era leak investigations seeking the communications of journalists who
published embarrassing details about the Russia investigation.

As the unsealed application reveals, the Trump Justice Department had homed in
on three important Washington Post stories about the origins of the Russia
investigation.

On May 26, 2017, Post reporters Ellen Nakashima, Greg Miller, and Adam Entous
(now of the New Yorker) broke the story of Jared Kushner and Michael Flynn's efforts
during the transition to develop a secret back channel to the Russian government,
perhaps through the Russian embassy.

(...)

So why was the Trump DOJ fixated on prosecuting the reporters' sources
on December 22, 2020, when the original application was filed?

That investigation came to nothing, of course. But even after the election the DOJ was
still hunting that white whale, trying desperately to take down House Democrats and
using our nation's law enforcement apparatus to seek revenge on Trump's enemies.

The fact that there were finally some things he was unwilling to do doesn't excuse
all the crazy, fucked up ways he tried to burn down the Justice Department and use it
as a partisan revenge machine.

Assclown Alert: Tantrum time with GOP candidate for Texas governor Allen West

July 14, 2021

https://www.sacurrent.com/the-daily...h-gop-candidate-for-texas-governor-allen-west

July 15,

For the first time since May, Austin-Travis County has returned to Stage 3 of its
COVID-19 Risk-Based Guidelines. Austin Public Health reports that confirmed
COVID cases have doubled over the past week and new hospital admissions have
neared 20 on the 7-day moving average – well past the threshold of 15 required to
move into Stage 3.

At a Thursday morning press conference, APH officials stressed the seriousness
of the rising case numbers and how effective the vaccine is in prevention, including
the highly transmissible Delta variant. There are now four confirmed cases of the
Delta variant in Travis County.

I am amazed by Trump supporters that continue to take marching orders
and talking points from a leader, that has throroughly betrayed them.

on Sunday, July 18, 2021 Trump's current gaggle of handlers
issued a written statement -

"Joe Biden kept talking about how good of a job he's doing on the distribution
of the Vaccine that was developed by Operation Warp Speed or, quite simply,
the Trump Administration. He's not doing well at all. He's way behind schedule,
and people are refusing to take the Vaccine because they don't trust his Administration,
they don't trust the Election results, and they certainly don't trust the Fake News,
which is refusing to tell the Truth."

A vile new Trump-GOP claim about vaccines suggests trouble ahead

July 19, 2021

There you have it: Trump is telling his supporters that they are correct not to trust
the federal government on vaccines, because this sentiment should flow naturally
from their suspicion that the election was stolen from him. Expressing the former
has been magically transformed into a way to show fealty to the latter.

It’s bad enough that Trump has now recast the question of whether to trust the federal
government on vaccines as a proxy for whether the election was stolen from him.

What makes this worse is that other Republicans are playing a version of this game.

(Sen. Bill Cassidy) Cassidy recasts this distrust of the feds on the vaccine as a way
to register anger at Democrats for calling out GOP efforts to restrict voting that are
targeted at African Americans.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...-claim-about-vaccines-suggests-trouble-ahead/

bodysong comment - I will venture to take the criticism further
Trump, MAGA, and formerly-Republicans do not want Joe Biden
to succeed at anything. They are united in their efforts to block
Joe Biden from making any progress or improvements.

"Making Trump look bad," is the worst blunder that any formerly-Republican could
make. They sacrifice their integrity, public image, their supporters, at all costs,
to avoid bringing that accusation on themselves. Yet, they are perfectly willing
to say anything, do everything, sacrifice all, to make Joe Biden "look bad."
Pushing Trump supporters to waste their chance to escape the dangers of Covid-19,
is a formerly-Republican's opportunity to add deaths to Joe Biden's American
death list.

The watchword of Republicans, before Trump's domination, was "We don't care."

Christine Blasey Ford lawyers call Kavanaugh investigation a 'sham'
after new details emerge

A June 30 letter from the FBI revealed that the bureau got over 4,500 tips
about the now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh

07/23/2021

The attorneys' comments came after the FBI sent a letter to Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse
(D-R.I.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.), who wrote to FBI Director Christopher Wray two years
ago with questions about how the investigation into Kavanaugh was conducted.
On June 30, the FBI responded to the senators, revealing new information about
the investigation.

Lawyers for Christine Blasey Ford said in a statement that the FBI’s letter established
that the investigation was a “sham and a major institutional failure” and chastised the
bureau for not interviewing Ford or acting on the thousands of tips it received about
Kavanaugh.

“Instead, it handed the information over to the White House, allowing those who
supported Kavanaugh to falsely claim that the FBI found no wrongdoing,” said
the lawyers, Debra Katz and Lisa Banks.

The bloated tick of the GOP is dropping from the MAGA herd.

GOP's elite are afraid their money and their entitlement will not protect them from death.

Trump pushed the MAGA herd to stampede from Covid-19 controls.

The GOP is stuck with the MAGA herd serving as a host for Covid-19 variants.

Their grand plan ? Force the Democrats to lie, and blame Democrats if they refuse.

Trump's former official liar, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, has stepped up to push the strategy.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders penned an op-ed

July 25, 2021

Arkansans got a rare public comment today from 2022 gubernatorial candidate Sarah
Huckabee Sanders, but, as is customary, it was solely through her own filter.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (contrary to the title, is a Right wing rag, run from
Tennessee publisher) obligingly ran her guest column announcing that she’d been
she’d been vaccinated with what she terms the “Trump vaccine.” She said that more
people would be getting shots if only Joe Biden and the leftys would give Trump the
credit he is due.

Her take on it -Vaccine is good. Trump gets credit.
Those who won’t take it and are killing others?
Biden’s fault.

She does more or less recommend getting the shot, as her Republican opponent
Leslie Rutledge already has done.

https://arktimes.com/arkansas-blog/2021/07/25/sarah-speaks-from-cover

Sarah Huckabee Sanders argues that the vaccination rate could be improved
if President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris “admit they were wrong
to cast doubt on Operation Warp Speed and give President Trump and his team
the credit they are due.”

Rebranding effort -

Sarah Huckabee Sanders penned an op-ed Sunday encouraging more people
in Arkansas to get “the Trump vaccine."

https://www.mediaite.com/news/sarah...-the-trump-vaccine-works-and-is-saving-lives/

Sarah Huckabee Sanders is running for office in 2022, and she is talking out of
all sides of her mouth. She is promising no masks, no restrictions.

Writing for the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, Sanders falsely claimed that Vice President
Kamala Harris said that she would never take a vaccine that (TFG45) former President
Donald Trump created. She sang the praises of the vaccine that many Trump supporters
have refused to get and complained that Trump isn't getting enough credit for fast-
tracking the vaccine, people complain they won't take because it was fast-tracked.

- Raw Story

In the meantime, Arkansas is on fire with the Delta variant.

The highly contagious Delta variant's spread through the state, which has one
of the lowest vaccination rates in the country, has caused another surge in cases
and led to full hospitals.

Did last week's confirmation from the AR heath department, of the Covid deaths
of two children, last week, prompt the rush to vaccinate ?

Utah educators have nixed online curriculum used by high school students across
the state that claimed, "most slaves were generally treated kindly" in the U.S. and
had "reasonable living conditions and hours of service."

"Many slaves worked so closely with their masters that they were treated as family,"
the curriculum states, suggesting that slaves had nice housing and "were considered
property so it was not in the best interest of a slaveholder to treat a slave poorly."

Northland Learning Center, a source of course packets for high schoolers who need
to make up credits, had been using the U.S. history curriculum for "a while."

The center is now rewriting the section of curriculum about the Civil War in response
to complaints from parents.

it "difficult to address" slavery — "especially through an independent study packet
versus classroom discussion."

Trump's plan for Afghanistan: Fuck the troops, fuck our allies. Who cares ?

any individual comes to the United States. So I can’t speak to one individual,
but I can tell you and confirm for you that we take the vetting of any individual

extensive process.

"And that is bringing American citizens out. It is bringing our Afghan partners out."

"It is bringing allies out. So, no, I would not say that is anything but a success."

"The Taliban's deadline was made first striking a deal with the prior administration."

FOX TV's Pete Doocy is proof of how low he will stoop to scoop FOX TV cash

August 26, 2021

Biden called on FOX TV's Doocy for the last question from reporters following his remarks -

“Mr. President, there had not been a U.S. Service member killed in combat in Afghanistan since February of 2020. "

"You set deadline, you pulled troops out, you sent troops back in, and now
12 marines are dead,” said Doocy. “You said the buck stops with you."
"Do you bear any responsibility for the way that things have unfolded
in the last two weeks?"

Biden responded-“I bear responsibility for fundamentally all that’s happened of late,"
but here’s the deal. You know, I wish you would one day say these things, you know
as well as I do, that the former president [Donald Trump] made a deal with the Taliban
that he would get all American forces out of Afghanistan by May 1."
"In return the commitment was made – and that was a year before."

"In return, he was given a commitment that the Taliban would continue to attack others,
but would not attack any American forces.”

Joe Biden: "Did you forget ?"

“Remember that? I’m being serious,” asked Biden, causing Doocy to attempt to ask
a question in which Biden interjected, “No, I’m asking you a question, because” –
in which Doocy again tried to ask a question. But Biden wouldn’t budge.

“No, no, wait a minute. I’m asking you a question,” said Biden.
“Is that the accurate to the best of your knowledge?”

Doocy asked if Biden if people have an issue with withdrawing from Afghanistan
or how the withdrawal has been done.

Trump’s administration signed a peace deal with the Taliban in February 2020

Trump did not follow through!

Trump did not deliver.

It is one thing to promise something, it is another thing to be an adult and do the hard part
and take responsibility and take action, and complete the task.

"I don't take responsibility at all"

Trump left Joe Biden the adult, "holding the bag." Trump has done that to many people,
throughout all of his adult life.

NPR's approach was to leave Pete Doocy out of it.

When asked whether he bears responsibility for the unfolding events in Afghanistan,
Biden replied: "I bear responsibility for, fundamentally, all that's happened of late."

"But here's the deal," he immediately added: "You know, as well as I do,
that the former president made a deal with the Taliban."

- NPR

*The agreement required Taliban leaders to begin separate negotiations with the Afghan

also agreed to hold fire on U.S. troops, but soon returned to its bloody campaign against
Afghan soldiers.

Mitch McConnell’s resignation to Trumpism

October 21, 2021

- Amber Phillips

A remarkable exchange this week between Senate Minority Leader
Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and reporters underscores that there isn’t
anything significant that McConnell, currently the most powerful
elected Republican official, can or perhaps is willing to do to
seriously confront the decidedly undemocratic turn his party
is taking.

On Tuesday, CNN’s Manu Raju asked McConnell: “Are you concerned at all —
[are you] comfortable with your party embracing a former president whom you said
was morally responsible for the January 6 attacks?”

Raju’s question is a fair one, given the signs everywhere that former president
Donald Trump is still the leading figure of the party despite his attempts to
overturn the 2020 election.

McConnell replied: “Well, I do think we need to be talking about the future and not the
past. I think the American people are focusing on this administration, what it’s doing
to the county. And it’s my hope that the ’22 election will be a referendum on the
performance of the current administration, not a rehash of suggestions about
what may have happened in 2020.”

McConnell isn’t endorsing his party’s embrace of Trump. But he hardly gave a
full-throated response against Trumpism.

McConnell and Senate Republicans blocked a voting-rights bill primarily aimed at
deflecting a Republican-led effort in states to restrict who can vote, and in some cases
to give some of the power to certify results to Republican state lawmakers.

McConnell refuses to say what he really thinks of Trump because he recognizes
the former president is here to stay in Republican politics.
