What is the most "mindless" television show you can think of off the top of your head?

I was just watching a "Full House" rerun the other day.. and OMgoodness! The acting is HORRIBLE, the plots, RIDICULOUS and totally PREDICTABLE... I give it a 97% on the mindless factor scale. This means... you only need 3% of your brain, to "get" it.

Recently... okay so I found I couldn't even watch the whole damn episode.. but there is this show that comes on Fox.. it is called "Popular." That was even worse... 99.2%
Yep, 0.8% of a brain to enjoy that one! Then again, I don't even know how anyone could get it and enjoy it.. certainly not both of those things.

Sorry if I offended someone's favorite show...
I could go on.. as t.v. sucks in my opinion, live theater is eons better, but of course, I have my own special place here in the lit family... so I am staying. Hee hee!

Okay, so what else?
:)

Sorry,

I just figured we needed a thread that required very little thought... ;)

i was so upset when they took off another world to put in passions. The show SUCKS. spirits and people flying around. Tommy the dummy. Come on give me a break !!!

BIG BROTHER

What do you you get when you lock the most boring and pathetic people in the world into one room?

This show. Truly a cure for insomnia.

I too, was upset when they took off Another World. I still have the final episode on tape. Gotta love the gorilla scene with Cass, it was priceless, although just a tad far fetched. I still miss my fav characters though, and have never watched the mindless show they call Passions. Another show I absolutely hate, is The Simpsons. I know alot of folks out there, think it's way cool, but not I...It's crap. Now, ask me about a show I love...and that would be "Friends"

:) Kat

Bonnie Wee... yes they mostly all suck.. but the idea is to find the MOST mindless ones... any ideas at all? Come on, you can think of something! :)

And hey... no one is rating their on a scale of any kind.. does that mean they are all mindless 100%? (They require no mind whatsoever?)

Mindlessness is a group of nearly fifty men ranging from the ages of 18 to 37 setting a minimum of twenty VCR's to record three episodes of Beverly Hills 90210 simply because they are in the Army and missing an episode of Beverly Hills 90210 is not a valid excuse to remain behind when it comes time to go tromping through the woods training to be good lil sojer boys. Their rationale for twenty VCRs was merely in case one failed. Several spouses were also recruited, just to make sure the show was properly recorded. I found my home inundated with three additional VCRs for this purpose simply by dint of being married to the platoon leader.

And these people are actually allowed to handle firearms.

Okay so these two "phrases" won't go together but I must say...

SCARY!

and

HAHAHAHAAAA LMFAO!!!

That's a show for 2 year olds, they're still using all their brain power not to crap in their pants and to remember that mommy doesn't like it when you paint the walls with lipstick. I mean, come on.

I remember liking ALF. I think I was eight..
I still enjoy Simpsons.. but my favorite show?
JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!

Did anyone see the show about lesbian aunts sleeping with their nieces? Or transsexuals telling their boyfriends they're really men? It's almost as good as the boards sometimes.
It's sort of a bonding moment for my stepfather and I. When he's too crippled to go to work and I don't work until five we laugh ourselves sick.

It's still mindless television, and since the only time I have the TV on is when I'm babysitting then I wouldn't know about any of the so called adult shows out there.

Katerina, the Simpsons is far from a mindless show. I resisted it - the popularity of it turned me off - but in the last couple of years I have discovered how great it is. It's a satire of our society, really. I think it's pretty damn funny. Third Rock From the Sun is good for the same reason. :)

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys think of South Park? Is it supposed to be funny in the same way the Simpsons is funny? I don't get it. I just find it offensive. Way too far over the top.

I agree with Blues, Big Brother is horrible. Blahhhh.
What else? Most soap operas and talk shows are a horrible waste of perfectly good airwaves. There are just way too many bad BAD shows out there!

South park rules. I'm sorry, I can't get enough. There have been some lame episodes, but when it's funny it's the ONLY show I've ever pissed myself at.

Chicken lovers!
Anal Probes!
Vietnamese Prostitutes!
4 ass monkeys!
The Crocodile Hunter versus the Utah Ice man!

It's SO fucked up! How can you not love it?!

MADDOG

I agree that big brother is the most mindless tv show on the air right now it is plain stupid.

But South Park is hilarious it is one of my favorite shows on the air whether it is mindless or not. It is funny as hell. Some others are theese cartoons for kids like poke e mon and the wild thornberrys they don't make any kind of sense to me at all. But my kids love them they are the most mindless I have ever seen and then you go and see the movie which is even worse.

I really belive that there are shows out there that are created by folks that smoke dope for folks that smoke dope..........South park is a perfect example........I find it really funny.......In the right mood........<clicking lava lamp on>

I've been trying to sort shows into a "needs brain" versus "no brain" format.

The top of the "no brain" list is Hollywood Squares, followed closely by anything with Regis Philbin.

"Needs brain" is headed by Wall Street Week and The West Wing.

"Survivor", I watched 15 minutes of one episode & thought it was the most amazing waste of time. I love "Daria" on MTV & "Farscape" on Sci-Fi, which to many people are probably mindless. As for the rest of mainstream television, I am so out of it. When people at work talk about the shows they watch, I am the one looking puzzled. Maybe I should turn of the computer & watch tv-nope, this is much more educational.

I like Wall Street Week, but they really really really direly really honestly have to reaaaaaaaaaallllllly badly need to replace Louis Rukeyser or however he spells it. The man gives me the jumpin heebie jeebies. Does he look that way naturally or did he have to practice????

Beverly Hills 9021-blows

Ok--here's my opinion:
Alf was actually a good show, I thought. Ever see the one where Alf is clipping his toe nails and is trying to get them in Katheryn's dip? I think that was the Mom's name on the show. It was mindless, but funny.
The Simpsons was a better show as a short on the Tracy Ulman Show, I think. I enjoyed the development of the characters on the series though, so it wasn't totally mindless, and it was funny too.
Beverly Hills 90210 was only good as long as they had the original cast members. I mean, there was Brenda the Bitch, who we all loved to hate. And Donna, who, as the daughter of Aaron Spelling, we never had to wonder what the hell SHE was doing on the show. Now it is more of a soap opera, in the sense that it is all melodramatic, with little-miss can't-be-wrongs all over the place. And I get a kick out of how the writers continue to reinvent the virgin, even though the only people who haven't had sex with more than one other person on the show are Mr. and Wrs. Walsh, Brenda and Brandon's parents. Of course, the Walsh's characters have been written out of the newer episodes, and probably for that reason.
The Teletubbies is a frightening show, in my opinion. I suppose two-year olds might enjoy it. But I am most impressed by children's programming that can appeal to adults as well. I did, one day, purely out of curiousity following the big 'La La is gay' scandal, watch one of the shows. As it happened, I caught the particular show where the whole theme revolved around La La and his 'dirty knees'. Now, that was, at least funny, if not down right ironic.
As for South Park, I understand it started out as a gag in an office setting. These guys sent this rude card with these two dimensional cut-out characters to a supervisor for Christmas. It apparently went over big, and sometime later became a staple of late night Comedy Central Programming. I watch and tape it, because it reminds me that George Carlin isn't always right--you CAN say that on television, at least now you can. And that is why I watch it, because I can. It is hilarious. So maybe the FCC does sleep on occasion.
In conclusion, for I am sure you all are hoping there is one to this post, I believe ANY series that has milked all they can from a show, that is gone into overtime, without actually being tied on the scoreboard, is a terrible waste of time.
There is one exeption that comes to mind for me, however. This particular show never was any good, in my opinion, and never should have even been a conception in the minds of the programmers or writers of television. That show is "Say What Karaoke" There is absolutely no redeeming value to that stupid show whatsoever.

Should I still reply?

Uuuhhhhh.......What? I like T.V. It is good. Wrestleing is good. MTV 24/7 is good. Strip Mall on Comedy Central is good. CNN is BAD, BAD, BAD! CSPAN is BAD, BAD, BAD! History Channel is BAD, BAD, BAD!

Thinking bad, it make you independent, then MAN not control you so easy.

Wrestling good.

I had a long ranting post about the stupidity of Professional Wrestling, but I come here to find that Ian has said he loves it.

Who am I to argue with a man in uniform...and one that possesses a gun, no less?

:)
