Mind mapping..

Has anyone used mind mapping successfully for writing, business strategy and/or personal organizing?

I am reading up on it and I cannot figure out if it is a fad or something that can make a difference.

Yes it can make a difference I sometimes use it in study. The research out there also is quite strong on the use of mind mapping and the use of colour to associate.

I always did it with Butchers paper and textas.

Mind mapping is graphical method of taking notes. Its useful there are people who swear by it, just like many other techniques out there to harness mind power [lol sexual too]

Brainstorming is not mind mapping.

Thank you all. I am going to invest a whopping 10 bucks on an Ipad app for mind mapping and see how it goes.

I used (and still do) mind mapping for revising back in college and did pretty well in the subjects I used it for.

My learning style is very visual / spatial:- so to have information in front of me and unravelled from a string of prose is really useful. Due to this I find mind mapping on paper much more powerful than using my computer I think because you have a much more physical relationship with the information. I also have a real problem with ebooks as opposed to a good old fashioned lump of paper.
