I'm not making this up.

Pape's polling found that 9% of American adults agreed that "Use of force is justified to restore Donald J. Trump to the presidency, while 25% agreed that "The 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump and Joe Biden is an illegitimate president."

Seriously..if 90s me had any inkling of what we'd be in store for in the last two years, I'd have thiught it was a practical joke.

"That douche is gonna be President?"..yes...and a shitload of dipshits will fight for his cause.

Yep...here we are

some of them already resorted to violence on january 6th and our supposed biggest threat of terrorism is from domestic terrorists. i wish (t-word) would just die so we'd be over him.

That might not solve the problem entirely. The Trumpers are only the latest iteration of the Tea Partiers, themselves an iteration of the Reform Party base. The problem is the existence of white populist nationalism in America, and I see no easy way to get rid of it, on anything sooner than a generational time scale.

Say, if Trump does pass away -- does he get a state funeral? Nixon didn't.

Violence is inevitable. The paths eliminating this has been eliminated. Now the only choices determine how much violence there will be. This country is finished. Sooner people accept this, the less violence there will be. You can't force people to be enlightened

I would take this more seriously if polling agencies like Gallup and Pew did surveys that showed what percentage of Americans supported violence to restore Trump to power. I would also like to know what percentage in the military and the various police forces favor the use of violence to restore Trump to power.

Well, we're not talking about the prospects of an actual coup. But during the 2020 election, the military officer corps made it very clear they would not support one.

If the hidden deplorable theory is correct - and the election results in Georgia and California suggest it is - it wouldn't solve the problem entirely BUT it would go a long way in that direction. It appears a lot of deplorables turn out for Trump and Trump only, not because they believe he'll help them but because it'll make everyone else's life as miserable as theirs. I don't think anyone else out there offers the same blend of shamelessness and bombast that Trump does. I mean, even if you wanted to be like that, it's not even something you can really fake very well.

Yes he did, and it was notable for having every president since him (Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton) in attendance, which I believe is the record for the most current-or-former presidents being together at one time. I can't think of any reason why Trump wouldn't be entitled to one as well.
