Mile High Club [Closed]
Tossing back the last bit of her Bloody Mary, Piper slid the empty glass across the bar before dropping the bartender a tip and giving him a half-assed "thank you" smile. The only thing on her mind was the eight hour flight she had ahead of her that was bound to strike up her anxiety. Collecting her belongings, Piper yanked at her pencil skirt that was already becoming far too uncomfortable as she made the dreaded walk to her gate.
"Now boarding all first-class passengers for flight 741 with non-stop service to London." The woman's troublesome voice boomed over the intercom, rattling her bones. With a heavy sigh and a clench in her stomach, Piper made her way to the airline representative as he scanned her boarding pass.
"Have a good flight, Miss Owens." Piper had to force a smile and bite her tongue, keeping herself from nearly screaming. She nodded her head and continued down the jet bridge in her too-tall high heels; one more Bloody Mary and the heels would have had to come off.
"I have got to find a new job." Piper thought to herself as she shoved her carry-on into the overhead compartment once boarding the plane. Never in a million years did she think her job would have her traveling internationally; one promotion lead to another and here she was, traveling first-class to London with an awful fear of flying. Quickly, as not to hold up the passengers boarding behind her, Piper climbed across the empty aisle seat and into the window seat, buckling herself in tightly with fumbling hands.
