Merchan's letter to Trump's lawyers?

Branching out, making a thread. I like 👍. Good luck with this.

And yet my Twitter feed is full of people who accepted it as authentic and have called for a mistrial.

The people flipping out over this are the ones wearing the red hats.

I don't think so. In fact nearly every report on the subject begins with the word "if."

I will grant that many of the media sources (on both sides) are trying to sensationalize it. That's not something which can be laid at the feet of Trump supporters though.

An interesting thought on the mistrial thing: No matter which way the shitpost turns out to be, doesn't it shout that the people don't believe the trial was fair because a guilty verdict was inevitable?

  • You believe he was guilty because you believe Trump is corrupt.
  • Other's believe he was going to be found guilty no matter what the evidence shows.
Show me where a verdict of innocent is in that.

I know 45 is corrupt. His business practices outside of his Presidency have proven that time and time again, a long with the company he keeps.

As for whether the verdict was correct - it seems that the facts of the case were strong for the charge. I think the law is dumb that was used. I think that any charge against politicians is politically charged. I don't believe the verdict was guaranteed by any stretch. I also don't buy the bullshit about the judge or the jury not giving a fair trial

IDK. Maybe we’re all overthinking this. Allegations of TDS or a witch hunt…
As a long time reputable trial lawyer, do you think it could just be as simple as the jury watching a defendant scowl at them, seem disinterested in the process, and sleep through his trial to prejudice them into a verdict of guilt???

The judge sent the letter knowing the ramifications for the verdict if true. The question is, is it true? The Judge thought enough of it to warn the defense. An investigation will now take place.

Dare to make a friendly wager on what the outcome will be?
If it is a prank, nothing will happen to change the verdict. If it's real, the court will investigate and a mistrial could be declared. The Judge notified the defense for a reason. I think it's 50-50 what he will do. There are already layers of reversible error in the proceedings that didn't phase the judge initially, so another layer might not sway him either if his only motivation to keep Trump off the campaign trail by jailing him. If he cares about his integrity or our democracy he should declare a mistrial.

The guy that wrote the post said it was a joke. His posting history shows that he is indeed a “sh!tposter” as he claims.

Trump may very well get himself jailed if he keeps breaching his gag order.

I know that Trump will go to prison because the Judge is corrupt and will make sure it happens.

I know that Trump will never go to prison because the Judge is corrupt and will make sure it never happens.

There we are, save this post and it's grounds for a mistrial whichever way it goes.
