menopause and sexual drive ??

My wife @46 yrs is approaching that 'golden age' and I think that I am starting to see a few subtle changes..........physically [irregular menstruations] and hormonally [emotionally with unpredictable mood swings].

My observances of the few other women experiencing menopause that I've known have been quite varied from loosing interest in sex to the opposite of becoming more of a slut with insatiable sexual desires.

Maybe others could share their experiences with this.

I am heading to the slut side for sure. I have talked with friends and most are losing interest in sex. I just cant get enough now at 50. I like it because I can act on it and hubby loves it. Kids are grown and out of the house. I do have mood swings once in a while but not too bad.

Not so lucky

Unfortunately I'm married to the one that shut down completely at menopause. Luck of the draw I guess, so I just do my own thing now. Not as much fun as when I was a teenager but what you gonna do?

Thinking of a J/O buddy if I can find one.

Luck has nothing to do with it. I'm a retired OR nurse and I'm a firm advocate of hormone replacement therapy. The optimal situation is to be without a uterus or ovaries and on hormones without a break. The studies that said that hormones cause cancer were flawed and have been proven to be a waste. If the woman has a uterus, progesterone has to be added to the estrogen and yearly mammograms are mandatory.
A woman doesn't have to turn in her sexual card. Without HRT, osteoporosis and prune pussy occur. Doesn't have to be that way...

I haven't hit that age yet, but can definitely say I'm more in touch (literally!) with my more sexual side as I've gotten older. I so often feel insatiable these days and am more frisky now than I ever was in my teens and young adulthood!

At the tender age of 69 and having said goodbye to my uterus years ago, I am way more sexually active now than when I was half my present age. I seem to be of great service to many of those men whose wives retired from copulation when they hit menopause. Jogging 5 to 10 miles a day keeps me in shape for this.

Seems that most of the replies so far imply that their sex drive kicks in more with menopause. That will add a bit more pressure on me to perform @ 25 yrs older than her and starting to slow down. Maybe I'll just have to share her for extra help?

I had to say goodbye to mine when I was 33. Like you, my drive has increased tenfold.
