Menopausal Hut

Agreed

If you sweat well, consider yourself lucky. Those that do not, and this runs strong in my family, are much more prone to heat exhaustion, heat stroke, chronic itching and various skin disorders.

I don't sweat much at all. However, when I do, my husband LOVES it. He prefers that I don't shower before sex. I think a LOT of men do.

:rose:

It's hard to manage hot weather if you don't sweat. I also think you're probably right. They like us sweaty.:D

I always remembered:

Horses sweat
Men perspire
Ladies glow (glisten works, too)

In my case... I must be a horse. :D

(especially given the amount of glowing or glistening I'm doing in a home air conditioned to 68 degrees. )

What would you do?

So, here I sit in all my menopausal glory. Glistening, sweating, perspiring, covered with dew; pick your descriptor of my more than overheated state. My hair is limp, wilted and damp. I'm in no mood to do more than sit in front of the fan and wipe myself with a cool cloth while sucking down various cold liquids. The combination of heat, humidity, hormones, and a 10 hour work day have left me positively lethargic.

We've recently moved to a new neighborhood and our house doesn't have air conditioning. The humidity is hovering around 100%. The temp is around 85 F. I don't even want to know the heat index. T is outside experiencing the joys of male bonding with our neighbor. A breeze picks up outside, I get another cool drink and go out in the hopes of lowering my temperature. The boys come over for a chat. Nice enough evening, right?

Well, next thing I know, this nice guy neighbor is inviting us to go with him and his wife to visit other neighbors and sit in a sauna. Yes, a sauna. A small overheated room where they pour water on hot rocks to generate steam and make the room hotter! I got invited to go sit naked with a bunch of strangers in a small, hot steamy room during a hot flash (with nothing remotely kinky happening). Hell, my whole neighborhood feels like a sauna this week. All I can do is laugh as I think about it.

Fortunately, T wasn't interested either. We thanked him nicely and I went inside and took a cool shower. Maybe next winter, when the temp is near freezing, we'll get another invitation.

LOL!

I love sauna's but it's too hot right now!

I'd be dying without air conditioning.

Don't know if this has been posted, but I found a great site/message board full of good advice and real life experiences of women going through HRT, menopause, hysterectomies and other related issues. It is Hyster Sisters and well worth browsing at least if wanting knowledge about any of these areas from women who have experienced them or are facing them and trying to make decisions. The thing I like is it covers positive and negative experiences without being biased toward any particular options...women giving other women the value of their experience and knowledge and offering a range of alternatives. Though it is said to be geared toward hysterectomy discussions, there is a lot of information, discussion and advice from those who have gone in other directions, and who are trying to find the best way through menopause (natural and medically induced) and beyond.

That looks like a GREAT site.

BTW, my 17 year old is already saying she wants her tubes tied. I told her a doc is unlikely to comply.

I think she might be a F/f Domme someday.

Sheesh, during my research I came across a gem which said women bleed on average 60-80ml during a period....lol, I want to know then why I seem to be (and always have to some degree) doing my share and about 10-15 other women's share as well?!! I also want to know why doctors feel it OK to lie and tell you they have prescribed what worked best in the past (but with a different name in this country) with no side effects and instead prescribe something which is not remotely the same medication, highly dangerous given I already have BP through the roof and considered extremely high risk for stroke, abnormal kidney function (both considered conditions which should rule me out for being given this crap) and which treats the symptom, not the problem as the original medication did well...oh and also why this risk is necessary given this high risk medication does not work well?!:mad:

Hyster Sisters is a great site. I used to hang out there often around the time I had my hysterectomy.

Sweeney Todd is in my pants, for sure.

I'm having the worst cramps these past couple of months than I've had since I was a teen. Could this be a sign of onset?

The temperature thing, Hell I've always had that going on.

The Closer season three had an early onset menopause storyline that kind of pissed me off. Did anyone else see it? What did you think of it if you did?
