I disagree with this article. In particular, the above quote from this article seems a little far-fetched. I think most of us want the personal contact and hope we can find the right person online that will ultimately lead to that real-life encounter.

Maybe there are those that do seek the impersonal relationship but I am not among them.

Came to LIT for "distraction" with the literature, then ventured into chat for the cybering. I agree with some but not all of the article. I seem to have gotten bored with the sites as its all the same after awhile,I find reading and posting on this board much more entertaining.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Impersonal sex is not rewarding for me especially as Ive gotten older.Its nice to have an emotional attachment to your partner,Now I just need to find a partner!

First off, I think the women are not telling the truth. Alot more of them cruze porn or have sex for recreation then will admit it. Just like when they are asked if they masturbate.

ON THE OTHER HAND.......I'm sure there are more men then want to admit out there that when they had recreational sex with a woman.....she became attached.

All that being said....I still believe that men CAN and do have sex and cruze porn sites for fun. But women are not as far behind as they claim.

I have to agree with a previous poster - the responses between men and women in this "survey" were extremely lopsided. It would be extremely difficult to get an accurate sampling of society with only 16% reporting in.

I do think women look more for intimacy, overall, than men. (NO, I'm not saying men do not want intimacy!) But I don't think that women go into chatrooms looking for a "connection", though I think there may be a small percentage that do, or at least hope to.

I go to chatrooms strictly to entertain and be entertained. I must admit to being one of the wome who does not masturbate during cybersex, though. Too difficult to type one-handed. But I love the idea (power??) of typing out a scenario that gets another person off.

I also found it interesting that the number of women who admit to meeting offline is higher than for men. Just who are these women meeting? The same men? Kinda strange - unless there are more women meeting other women, and the survey didn't ask about that.

Overall, I do think it is easier for men to be more impersonal regarding sex. But I don't think that women can't or don't have the same feelings. I know I can go into a chatroom, have a conversation with a man, cyber with him until he gets off, and consider it an enjoyable time. If I see him online again, it's great to say "hi", maybe have a repeat if both of us are not busy. But if I don't see him again, that's fine, too. I think a lot women feel the same way.

I think some things about the article were true, others a bit off and I think it's due to the numbers of respondents between men and women being so far apart.
