Woman arrested in boy's dragging death

A woman rammed her pickup truck into a 3-year-old boy in a stroller and his grandmother, fatally dragging the youngster three-quarters of a mile until he fell from the undercarriage of the vehicle, police said.
Lazara Arellano De Hogue, 40, of Towson, was charged with hit and run, and additional charges were pending. She was being held on $2 million bail, Baltimore County police said Saturday.
Majorie Thomas, 55, was pushing her grandson Elijah Cozart across a busy street Friday afternoon when they were struck by De Hogue's Dodge Ram, police said. De Hogue drove away with the boy and stroller trapped in the undercarriage of her truck and did not stop until the boy fell out from under the vehicle on a side street, police said.
She allegedly got out and removed the stroller, then drove home.
Elijah died at a hospital. Thomas was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she was in fair condition Saturday, a spokeswoman said.
Witnesses helped police find the truck and identify De Hogue. Police did not know if she had an attorney and would not release details of their interview with her because the crash remains under investigation.
