inspired by LT's whinging & whining in the women's thread...

in modern society are men just as stressed about their appearance as women are?

my sis' bf has fat days, uses her moisturiser and gets upset about zits. is this the reality, that men keep hidden?

do you hide your insecurities because once in a group men will mock these kinds of feelings?

do you feel intimidated by the better looking guys? see a beautiful woman, but not talk to her in case you don't measure up?

not really. Least not with other guys. Its more about the woman accepting me for who i am.

Why should i reply to your thread? You never reply to mine. Fuck yourself bitch.

Translation: it's okay for women to complain and whinge, but not men.

You're not even remotely worthy of respect, you miserable two faced cretins.

1) No. Sometimes when I'm in certain groups.
2) A little, sometimes.
3) Yes, occasionally.

I actually doubt it is that much different for men than women in this respect. Men want to be attractive, they want their peers to like them, and they don't like facial blemishes. Shorter men want to be taller, tall men want to be a little shorter, fat ones want to be thinner.

As I mentioned in the other thread, men have become just as objectified as women in the US and other modern countries. Go look at a men's magazine and look at the models. Men used to not care so much about it, imho, but now they do more.

P.S. Does this soap make my ass look fat?

THis post is quite misogynistic in appearance. Clarification? Or do you actually mean all women are "miserable two-faced cretins?"

Women are more excepting as far as society goes of what men look like.
Ideally we'd like to be tonned and sexy 24/7, and we'd love our spouses or SO to be buff and hung. But the reality is no one is perfect.
We don't pick who we fall in love with, or maybe some ppl do. I didn't. My husband is 6'3" (I'm only 5'3") he is also a big guy (by typical standards), but I fell for him, for all the inside stuff.

LT, i would reply to your post...but i have you on iggy, because every post you make is mean.

bet you £20 that your post insulted somebody!

it's a serious thread. my sis' bf is extremely image conscious...far more so than i am...and i'm interested to see how many men really feel this way.
it might be small to some, but to others it's a daily stress.

I don't even read that anywhere between the lines. Or on its face. She said nothing about it being ok for women but not men.

Men and women are so alike in this respect. We all want to be noticed, appreciated, loved, sought after. We do not want to be ugly, repulsive or rejected. Even LT wants love and affirmation, although he chooses odd ways to obtain it, like caling people cretins n' stuff.

Ever have someone put gummy drops up your butt? They melt and make a soupy mess.

Try it!!

actually, i don't agree at all.

i think men see attractiveness in far more women than women see in men.
they don't pick out stretch marks or broken nails, they notice nice curves.
they are quicker to see the assets than the flaws.

i was with the ex for over 6 years...and in all that time i don't think he even noticed i have stretch marks!
...but as a woman i saw his every flaw.

or am i wrong?

i think that we THINK men are evaluating us, when really they're admiring.

They are evaluating. I would guess that stretch marks, like a spouse being overweight, are verboten subjects. He noticed, but he wasn;t going to suggest you get laser treatment or anything. <if they can do that for stretch marks...>

I don't know, maybe because I'm getting older, I see the true beauty inside - course I guess you do make that 1st judgement on appearance. But confidence, humour, and a good attitude does go along way.
I once read something about how we as women worry about what he's thinking when he sees us naked. We are standing there thinking oh god, does he see what I don't like about myself. No most of the time, he is just happy that a woman is naked w/him.
It also depends on the man, course so goes as far as the woman.

Honestly,

Of course I am concerned that I look good. Who isn't conscious of their self image? You want to look good for yourself... for those around you. However, I wont go out of my way to conform to someone else's perceptions of what my body image should be. I think that I am a pretty average guy when it comes to looks... and am quite content with that.
