When KillerMuffin posted the first part of Erica's memoirs, I thought, 'tough act to follow'.

Whipersecret responded magnificently. I thought, 'pity the poor sap who follows those two!'.

Gaucho did, and he has done an excellent job. He has taken Erica's character and added a new facet. Tremendous job, Gaucho!

When the chain was first mooted, I contemplated joining in. Boy, am I glad I didn't!

Alex.

PS: Memoirs of a Lady, Ch.3 - Enjoy!

Alex, you took the words right out of my mouth. The exact same thoughts raced through my mind.

First, I thought to myself that the writers were lucky, nay, blessed to have such a strong foundation provided by KM. And while they could build upon it, they certainly couldn't improve upon it. She showed what writing is all about - telling a story and taking the readers on an adventure by using rich and tactile vocabulary.

But then came WS who demonstrated that she is an excellent cook in addition to being a writer because she added essential ingredients to the base recipe to make the character come alive. Her story actually brought me to tears at one point. And, like you, I pitied the "poor fools" that would have to follow HER!

Today, I read Gaucho's story and it has matched the previous two chapters in terms of developing the character and providing an exciting new plot twist to drag us kicking and screaming through events in Erica's life. My heart was racing and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I don't have the same sensation as holding a book in my hands, but Gaucho, I couldn't wait to get to the end of the page so that I could click my mouse to the next to see what awaited me. Your writing is so rich and expressive, the portrayal so warm and inviting, the words just jump right off the page!

All of you deserve kudos for telling such an engrossing tale. I am enjoying this chain story very much and am completely in awe of the skill of the writers involved.

Good job! Who's next?

great work!

Wow, just wow.

And I'm one of the poor fools who has to go at the end. Oh man, is that ever a lot of pressure, with all the fine writing to come along so far.

Damn. *said with wide-eyed appreciation*

That's the only thing I can think of to say that's all-inclusive enough. Leaving me speechless is thought to be impossible, you know. So, of course I'll say one more thing -- this chapter does something that most writing does not... it makes me want to write something of my own instead of tear apart what I've just read to make it better. Congrats, Gaucho. You have a winner here.

niten's thoughts...

Gaucho...you wrote an excellent chapter which enhances this incredible story!

With each chapter the reader is able to explore the depths of this character, making Erica come alive, and leaving the reader to beg for more!

Like BB, I am in awe of all the writers! This is one chain story I have printed out and will definately read again!

Kudos to you all!! :) :) :)
