IC: (BASS)

Bass' purple hair flowed through the wind as he stood there on the cliff. His eyes were as cold as ever. He held his black, orange finned helmet under his arm, and the rest of his armor in the storage compartment on Trebles back. He stared over te cliff, across the forest, and at the city. "It.... seems okay.... So why did Roll so desperately call me?" Bass wondered, as he walked away from the cliff, and torwards his camp site. "Treble, put out that fire, we're leaving." For an moment, Treble did nothing but stare at his companion, why Bass was on such a rush was beyond him. Treble then got up, and like any other dog with an bone, put out the fire by kicking dirt at it with his hind legs.

***

"Hello? Any bodie here?" Bass' voice echoed through the halls as he entered Light's Base. He didn't need to knock on the door, or break in, or anything, the door wasn't locked, whcih was VERY odd for Dr. Light not to have his door locked. "What is going on here?"

Just then, Treble nudged Bass' leg, "What is it Treb?"

"Bass?"

Bass looked up from Treble to see an older version of Roll, and she was pointing an small but most likely paralizing cannon. "Roll..."

With out any warning, Roll lunged herself torwards Bass and wrapedher arms around his neck, shocking him so he couldn't retaliate. "It is you! Thank goodness!"

For an moment, Bass was taken off guard, and he did nothing, but as usual, Treble jumped in and saved Bass by whimpering. Bass cleared his throat to get Roll's atention "Roll, where is Dr. Light, in fact, where is Megaman?"

Megaman

"I-I still don't get it." Megaman said wearily. "Why do I have to fight these robots? I don't know what I'm doing."

"Well, Rock," Auto replied, his mechanical body making clicking and whirring noises as he drove the beaten-up truck down toward the city, "you're the only robot capable of defating Wily's creations that is around. There has been little luck reaching Protoman or Bass."

"But I've only been training for a week now. I don't know the first thing about fighting bots!"

"Rest assured, you have beaten him nine times previous to this." Auto stopped as if in thought. "Well, once was King, but it was the same principle."

"Yeah, so I've heard. Then why don't I remember any of it, huh?"

"Dr. Light said..."

"Dr. Light doesn't want me to know." Megaman finished for him. "If I'm going to fight, I want to know why. I don't mind being a pawn as long as I understand the game."

Auto made an audible sigh. "You have gained quite the inquistive nature, Rock. Fine. After your last major battle, you began to torture yourself over the fact that your primary purpose was to fight and destroy. Your friends tried to convince you otherwise, but all your battles seemed to point to the fact that you were no different than Wily's Robot Masters. Dr. Light felt sympathetic towards you and wiped the battles from your memory."

"He wiped my memory?" Megaman was taken aback.

"It was for your own good."

"Didn't Dr. Light predict Wily's return? He isn't the type to give up."

"Well, we hadn't expected both Protoman and Bass to leave us. We truly thought Wily was done. But that's all behind us. The future is what we need to be prepared for. Dr. Light trusts that you can do this, so I trust you too. The docotr is very intelligent."

"Then why are we cruising around in this scrap heap?" Megaman asked. "Shouldn't he have built me a Megamobile or something?"

"Dr. Light is busy working on something." Auto said a little too quickly. "Now get ready; the city's coming up."

"Right." Megaman sighed. "Where are we going?"

Auto checked his radar. "City Hall. That's where the biggest flux of mechanics is coming from."

"Well, let's see what I'm made of." Megaman said, putting his blue helmet on his head.

Bass sighed as Roll explained what happened. He sat down and pushed his long purple hair. "Why would Light do such an thing? I mean, what if I went bezerk again? didn't he think of the possibiliatys?"

"Well he thought that you and Protoman would stick around."

"But we're loners! You should have known that we wouldn't stick around! Especialy me!"

"I know that! But Rock went into such an deep depression..."

"Okay, I get it..." Bass said seeing that Roll was about to cry. For the second time in his life, Bass felt sympathy. "Didn't Light make an back up system?"

"No, not that I know of. And after the robot attacked, we couldn't do anything!"

Bass stared at the ground, thinking. then an Idea popped into his brain. "Willy's Base..."

"What?"

"Nothing, listen we have to find Rock, where is he?"

"Auto taken him to the City Hall, why?"

Bass quickly stood up, "Come on, there may be an chance."

Megaman

Auto parked the truck in an abandoned alley partway into town. He turned to Megaman. "This is about how far I can go. It would be unsafe to drive any further. It would be best for you to teleport in from here."

"Right." Megaman nodded. "Well, time to...wait. I can teleport?"

"Of course you can. Didn't you practice at all during your training?"

"NO! I was too busy trying to master this clunky arm cannon!" Megaman said pointing to the weapon on his right arm. Auto made what could only be described as a robotic sigh.

"Fine. I guess you'll have to go there manually." The giant robot pointed to trhe back of the truck. "I'll try and get Rush operational."

"Please do. I'm going to have a bugger of a time doing this by myself."

"You can do it." Auto assured him. "Good luck."

"Thanks." Megaman nodded. He hopped out of the truck and inched his way out of the alley. As he looked down the road. He could see some figures standing at the center of city hall, but he couldn't make them out. However, he could see a legion of mets, robotic bats and hundreds of other robotic creations swarming around.

Megaman sighed inwardly. He was going to get creamed. He charged up a shot in his blaster and stepped out of the alley. A lone met turned to look at him. Megaman unleashed a powerful blast that fried the little bot, leaving only it's yellow hard hat behind. The shot got the attention of a multitude of nearby robots. Sighing again, Megaman ran into the fray, firing his blaster like crazy.

Bass basicly draged Roll to City Hall. "Geez, its really an smart thing to send an bot who has its memory lost, to City Hall! What was Light thinking?!"

"Thats just it! Light wasn't thinking! He's been so wraped up in his new project lately!"

Bass slowed to an stop as they arived at City Hall. Already Treble spotted Megaman blindly blasting his way through a hord of lacky bots. Treble quickly got Bass to notice, and of course, Bass praticly flipped. "What is that bolt head thinking just blasting in like that?!" Bass turned his head to Treble, who already pulled out his armor. "Yeah... Thanks alot..." Bass mutered sarcasticly, he hated when Treble does that type of stuff, its like he could read his mind.

"Transfer Armor!"

Megaman

Megaman fired blindly into the mass of robots. Chunks of metal were being blown apart as the shots connected with the enemies. But the amount of creations didn't seem to go down.

Megaman grunted as he felt the blasts from the enemies strike his armor. He knew he had the best body armor Light had available, but he wasn't so sure it would help him too much. Ut was at half-level already. At this rate, he'd be scrap before he could even make a dent in the invasion. He was going to have to try something new.

'Something new' came in the form of a voice.

"Transfer Armor!"

Megaman whipped around toward the voice. Bass?

Bass held up his cannon and blasted like an mad man. "Rock you bolt for brains! what the hell are you doing?! Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" Bass shot every bot that came after Megaman until theuy noticed that he was the threat, and began to attack him. But not even bas could take such a mass of bots by himself. he relized that when he blasted an chopper head bot in half, but he forgot that an chopper head is capable of surviving with out the lower part of his body.

The chopper head rammed itself into Bass' chest and then turned to Roll, whos shot wasn't exactly Robin Hood style.

Megaman watched Bass go down due to the chopper head. He turned to see it go after Roll.

"Roll!" Megaman turned and charged up a shot. As a prewarning, he shouted, "Duck!"

He let the blast go, hoping it would hit his mark and not hit Roll. Thankfully, the blast struck the machine and blew it up. He breathed a sigh if relief, but was immediatly tackled from behind by a robotic grasshopper.

"Ugh! This is getting frustrating!" The blue bomber groaned.

Bass slowly recovered, and shot the grass hopper down. "okay, now I'm pissed!" Bass muttered as he raised his cannon, and let out an massecuring barage of cannon fires. At first they seemed like they were off their marks, but it turned out to be he was aiming torwards the reproducers first.

After destroying the reproducers, his aim went torwards the robots, but his cannon over heated and needed to rest "Oh shit!"

Megaman

"Don't worry Bass!" Megaman shouted. "I'll cover you!" He began to fire buster shots at the fray, but didn't exactly do enough to provide any cover. The robots swarmed them in seconds, knocking them to the ground.

"Enough." A loud voice said. The robots retreated from on top of the duo and backed off a good distance. Megaman hoped the new person was friendly, but highly doubted it. He attempted to get up, but a foot pressed to his back and pushed him back down to the ground.

OOC: I don't have any planned character for the intruder. Probably one of the robot masters, possibly Tao.

Bass tried to look up to see who it was, but his vision was completely blurred because his hair was in the way. He slowly shook his head to move the hair away, and glared at an woman, with long lavender hair. "Wh... Who the hell...?"

"My name doesn't matter... Yet. I'll just say this, this is the only time I'll let you three go." The woman then lifted her foot off of Megaman, turned, and left the scene mysteriously.

"Wa-wait..." Bass muttered, before loosing consiousness

Megaman groaned as he pushed himself off the ground. His arms shook as he attempted to hold himself up. He eventually managed to get onto his feet. He took a look around. All the robots had vanished from the scene.

"Huh. I guess this means we won." He said. "We won, Bass!" He said cheerily, but his face fell as he saw Roll kneeling by Bass's comotose body. "Bass?"

"He's unconsious Rock." Roll told him.

"Wonderful." Megaman said, depressed. "Well, let's get him back to Auto. He's waiting a little ways back in the Megamobile." Roll nodded, then stopped.

"Megamobile?"

"Light's beaten-up old truck." Megaman sighed. He lifted Bass's feet and Roll grabbed his arms. "Didja get a good look at the lady who stomped my back?"

"No." Roll shook her head. "She had purple hair, but that's all I could tell you."

"Like Bass's?"

"Very similar." Roll nodded.

"Huh." Megaman mused. He was silent the rest of the way back to the truck. Auto was waiting and looked none to pleased.

"What happened out there? There were all these robots, then in a matter of seconds, they were all gone!"

"I don't know what happened." Megaman shrugged. "I was face-down in the road. Besides we have more urgent business." He lifted Bass's body onto the truck. "Like you fixing Bass."

"We can't dilly-dally too long, Rock." Auto said. "There are more areas sited with robot activity. There seems to be a leader in each location."

"More robot masters?" Megaman asked."Doesn't Wily learn? Let's fix Bass, then I'll be on my way."

"Ugh..." Bass groaned in pain, his body was brutaly wounded from not only over using his energy, but before Bass fallen, he saw an huge white light and an powerful cold wind hit him, but it seems that Megaman didn't see nor felt it. Is Bass' mind he kept asking the question "Am I dead?" to himself over and over.

Bass shot up gasping for air. He looked around franticly trying to find out where he was. "Wh-what? where..." Bass tried to move, but he was in so much pain, he fell back on his back with an loud thud.

"Take it easy Bass." Roll said with concern. She put her hand on Bass' shoulder so he knows she's there.

Bass slowly risen his cannon to see how badly it was damaged. "It's totaly fried..."

"Can't you repair it?"

Bass shook his head, "Its far beyond repair..." Treble whimpered, and Bass looked at him "We could do that, but... It may be too dangerous in to do so."

Megaman

Megaman sat a few feet away from Bass. He knew Bass was damaged, but he hoped there would be a way to repair him. He didn't want to have to do this alone, but he couldn't wait forever.

"I have it." Auto said, handing a small device to Megaman. The blue bomber just stared at the screen. "The nearest robot flux is at the power generators west of here. I found a robot design of Dr. Light's that matches this one."

"Pyroman?" Megaman looked at the screen. It displayed a picture of a tall robot with large flamethrowers on each arm. Tubes connected the weapons to a giant fuel tank strapped to his back.

"That's the name Dr. Light gave him, but I don't know what he goes by now. It doesn't matter, really. You just need to get down there and take care of him."

"Right. Any matches for the purple-headed woman? Was she a bot?"

"No matches yet, Rock." Auto shook his head. Megaman sighed.

"Right. Let's check on Bass. Then we'll see if I need to tackle this flaming bot myself."

"I'll be fine..." Bass mutered. He slowly attempted to stand up, and after a few seconds, he was able to get on his feet. "Auto, could you tell me where we are exactly?"

"Mmm about an mile from the City Hall, why?"

"Stop here and let me off." Bass replied quickly, not giving an straight answer, as usual. Before Auto could slow to an complete stop, Bass jumped off of the truck and landed with great pain.

"Willy had an back up secret base in the sewers here," Bass said not looking back at Rock or Roll, or even Treble "It hasn't been used since his last creation, King." Bass then looked back torwards the others, "It most likely hasn't been touched since then, hopefuly he left an extra cannon piece down there... Thats all I need..."

Bass began to walk torwards the sewer lid "If you want to come Rock, I won't hold you back."

Megaman weighed his options. On one hand, if he went with Bass rather than after Pyroman, it might put them in a bad position for further robot spread. On the other hand, he got beat bad without Bass's help and the thought of his erratic shooting around some high powered generators made him quiver.

"Yeah, I should go with you Bass. Maybe I could get a power-up or something." He said. "Roll, why don't you and Auto make sure as many people have evacuated this city as possible. This is going to get messy."

Without another word, he turned and followed Bass into the sewer. He climbed down the ladder and landed ankle-deep in wet gunk. Ewwww...

"Let's just hope Wily isn't hiding out here." Megaman said to Bass, who was almost hidden in the dark. He followed the other bot through the pipes.

Megaman felt uneasy about the awkward silence. He wanted to ask a question, but he hoped he wouldn't be touching on a sensative subject. "So, Bass...where have you been for two years? You just kinda disappeared on us."

"Nowhere important" Bass replied quickly, it was obvious he wasn't going to enter that subject, it really didn't matter to him where he went, or at least that is what he constantly tells himself. "You better prepair you cannon right now Rock, there may be some stray bots lurking around." Bass then shifted his head torwards Treble. "Maybe I should use that B Saber"

Treble whimpered at the remark, "I know, I know, I haven't really used the B Saber before, but its better than nothing!"

Meanwhile....

"Why didn't you kill them?"

"I owed him an favor."

"Don't tell me you still have feelings for that traitor!"

"Enough! What I do is none of your buisness!"

"Fine fine... So what now?"

"We do nothing"

"What?" An wolf type bot risen from his chair, and slammed his fist on the table before him. "What do you mean 'Nothing' ?!"

"Exactly what I said... Nothing... We'll let Kai do his job"

"Excuse me if I don't trust that clone!"

The other shadow just smiled. "We don't call him Forte for nothing now do we?"

"Like I said... Clone"

"You know as well as I do Kai is NOT an clone, he just use that disgues to make Bass look evil..."

Megaman

Megaman shifted uncomfortabley. Right now, he felt more scared of Bass than any stray bots. His eyes glanced around wearily. And when he stepped down on a glass shard, the loud noise almost startled him to death.

"Gaah!" Megaman jumped back in surprise. "What in the world?" He turned his headlamp down to the gunk beneath his feet. As his fingers brushed away the liquid, he found shards from a large glass container. As he moved his head up, he found the body of the capsule. It was extremely advanced with many glowing pieces and such.

"Hey, Bass. What do you make of this? Something of Wily's?"

"I... Don't know..." Bass looked at the capsule, he then pressed his hand on the capsule. All of an sudden, an bombardment of memorys when Willy had subcluded himself in his lab working on project red shadow, but he only goten as far as Willy mentioning projet red shadow, nothing else.

Bass shot back, panting harshly, "W-what the hell?!"

"Bass?" Megaman asked worridly. "Hey, Bass! Are you alright?" Bass's breathing was heavy and his eyes were dancing with fear, something that was very rare for him. Megaman placed a hand on the other's shoulder.

"What happened Bass? Did you see something?"

Bass wildly shook his head, trying to sort out his memorys "Red Shadow...." Bass stood up, and turned to the door on his left. "There... The extra parts must be in there..."

Without saying another word, Bass walked into the room, and searched around for parts to fix his cannon, "No... No... No... No" Bass picked up and dancing monky bot. "Hell no!" He then got tossed the bot behind him. "No, no, no, Nothing!?" Bass cursed like an sailor. "How the hell am I going to kill robots if I don't have an weapon!?"

Treble sniffed around a bit, and began barking wildly. "What is it Treble?" Treble started to dig like he was after an bone, and pulled out an small black box. Inside of it was an cannon, but its desings were slightly different than Bass' "Must be an new modle..." Bass said as he put it on. "Well it fits perfectly... But does it shoot is the question?"

Megaman

Megaman looked around, hoping to find something that could help him. In fact, anything would be nice. Megaman looked through a large filing cabnet. There were numerous data disks in it. A lot of them were destroyed, but he did manage to come upon one intact disk. He read the label along the top: "Bubble Man".

Huh. Bubble man.

Megaman inserted the disk into the slot on top of his blaster, there was a sudden whirring noise and the disk popped back out. A female voice in the back of his head said, "Bubble man weapon data added to current arsenol. Ability: Lead Bubbles."

"Sweet!" Megaman grinned. He quickly rummaged through the pile of disks for anymore that remained intact.

"Rock... You won't find any good disk in there, all of the good ones are in one disk... They are most likely in this lair, but..." Bass looked around for something, "Its an secret passage... And I forgot where it was..."

"*Bark!*"

"What is it Treble?" Treble dragged both Bass and Rock torwards an book shelf "Hey... this is where Willy put all of his data... This is where the passage is!" bass was about to point his cannon torwards the book shelf and blast away, but insted he taken off his helmet, and pointed it torward the shelf. "Scan!"

Suddenly an red light ran over all of the books, and with an ring, and disk popped out. "This stuff may be useful for me..."

"Ok... Back up, I'm kicking this thing down!" Bass quickly pulled back and thrusted his foot forward, knocking the book shelf down.

Megaman

As Treble dragged Megaman to the other end of the room, he quickly scooped up a handfull of disks and shoved them into one of his side compartments on his left leg. He'd have to check them later.

He watched as Bass kicked down the bookshelf. There was anothe room connected to it that was full of metallic junk and expiraments.

"Bass! Is that Wily's Skull Tank over there? I mean, it looks like crap but it's still the tank! This place is loaded with some of Wily's old materials. Look, even sketches of new robot ideas!" Megaman quickly tore down a sheet off a far wall. "Glue Man? Dart Man? Cork Man? That old geezer really is losing his marbles." He noticed Bass wasn't really listening, so he crumpled the sheet up and threw it away. Suddenly, he felt a ringing sensation in the back of his helmet. Auto was contacting him.

Megaman pressed a small button on the side of his helmet. "Speak to me."

"Rock? It's me, Roll."

"Oh, hey Roll. Get Rush fixed?"

"Almost. Listen, we've got some trouble."

"Huh?" Megaman asked. "I already knew that."

"No, I mean more trouble!"

"Oh. Shit."

"Pyroman is wrecking havoc on the power plant. The whole city's energy supply is going haywire. I think he's using it to power up more bots!"

"That's not good." Megaman groused.

"You're pretty close to the power plant. It's a pretty small building, but it's surrounded by large electric fences and tons of wires. If you can shutdown the building, you should be able to access the electric tower behind it. Pyroman should be at the top. However, there is a major flux in bot activity, so I hope you guys found something good in Wily's lab."

"Nothing to good yet."

"Well, there's no time to waste. I'm sending you a map of the sewers. Use it to get to that building. New bots are being churned out by the second, so get your ass down there!" With that, Roll cut the transmission short.

Megaman turned to Bass, who was examining something in a corner. "Uh, Bass? We gotta go. Like now."
