Meeting ADR

Did someone mention my driving?

HA!

Drive with shy. This woman was never under 90mph!

I checked. We never left England. And we were never on the autobahn (is that the correct spelling?) After she regaled us with stories of being stopped for speeding (and very effectively crying her way out of one ticket) and other stories I won't retell here because I won't ruffle her angel wings in front of the masses and after the second time that I suggested she might not want to get a ticket, I decided to shut up because I'm not her mother nor am I old enough to be. I went to sleep instead. ;-)

You know though, she is the most MARVELOUS friend and hostess and tour guide anyone could possibly have.

We can't thank her enough for all the time and efforts she put forth for us. Jane and I cried when we had to tell shy goodbye. And we are already planning on next year's trip back to England.

It was wonderful to meet Velvet, too and so nice of her to make the major trek into the city to meet us. Thank you for that. :rose:

The English are very helpful and nice. The food was outstanding. We have great stories and pictures and memories of it all.

It was just so fabulous to meet you again, as well as meet everyone else with you.
When you told me I would love Jane, you were right. She is absolutely fantastic, you must have been a pretty wonderful Mom to end up with such a great person as a daughter.

As for my driving.....Well, Ummm, err, we had alot of miles to cover before we ran out of daylight.
Yep thats is a good reason for going a little too quick now and then. After all you wanted to see everything, I just did my best to make sure it wasn't night by the time we got there. Y'see I did it for you!

Plus I slowed down everytime one of those yellow boxes that takes your pic appeared, you know how much I hate having my picture taken!!

I am so glad you had a great time, teeth and wrists not withstanding of course. being able to be at Stonehenge with you is something I will never forget.

You are one in a million xx

You are a safe and smart driver and we never felt in danger. LOL Unlike how you and G must have felt driving with me. I admit... I can be goofy behind the wheel.

And you did do everything that I wanted to do. No matter, I did enjoy Stratford. It meant a day with you, in addition to seeing a really pretty village. And I had cream tea- twice!!!

I handled the jet lag at both ends, the best. Going over, it took Jane a couple of days for it to hit her. I never really felt it. Coming home, has been nothing for me.

One thing I do have to say though is that I think meeting you, G and Velvet was kinda eye opening for Jane. She's always thought that I just talk to a bunch of kinky pervs online. Meeting you made her realize how very nice and real you bunch of kinky pervs are!

Jane wants to go to Amsterdam next year and I told her that if she does (and I'm not along or even if I am along) that I will connect her with Catalina. I know that she would be happy to meet Jane. It would sure make her mother feel less worried if I knew that Jane had someone like Catalina to contact if she needed help. That's the great thing about Lit. There are people almost anywhere I go and in my experience, they have been really helpful, kind and have gone out of their way for me, just as you did for us.

When I go back, I hope I can meet others that I missed out on meeting this time.

And shy, you are a blessing as a friend and one in a kazillion to me . ;-D xxx

Welcome back ADR!

It was really good to meet you and Jane was just lovely. It was well worth running the gauntlet of train works, roadworks and tube cancellations that got me there over an hour late. :(

It was a lovely sunny day and we all got along fine, it's always interesting to see London through the eyes of a tourist, the things they pick out and photograph (which in Jane's case was about everything, just to keep me guessing.) I did feel sorry for Mr ADR though, he looked so tired by the end of the day.

I tend to think of Americans as Britain's cousins because the language and so much of popular culture is the same but it's not until you dump a group of US citizens in Blighty that you realise how foreign we really are to each other in many ways.

It was a great pleasure ADR, an honour to meet you and your family. If you ever do make it across the pond again, we must make sure to have more time together. :rose:

Yah, you would both be welcome or if you can't make it, Jane would also be just as welcome. By then I should be even better at fiinding my way around...I picked up an excellent book last time I was in Amsterdam which gives a good overall of the country as well as travel tips in great detail for anyone visiting and sightseeing...they also had another one just on Amsterdam so when I get back in there I am hoping it is still there so I can buy it and study it too. LOL, of course F could make it so much easier but I gave up on that idea a long time ago. I am still cranky with my body for preventing me coming to meet you on this trip, but it is life and I am still having bad days with the occasional good one thrown in to keep it interesting and me believing I can get back to what I was.

Catalina:catroar:

ADR, sounded like a great trip for you and your family!

Glad you loved it!

I enjoyed meeting Shy and Velvet, as well as some others, and they all have made me feel welcome, and have taken some time to sit down with me and write some interesting conversations with me.

I certainly hope to meet some more of these people, and of course, you inculded!
