Do you meditate? What techniques do you use? What do you use as a focus? If you don't meditate, why not?

If laying back on my bed in the dark with slow, chilled-out dance music on in the background is meditating, then yeah i do.

Or if sitting in an exam, with my eyes closed, hands together against my face, concentrating on absolutely nothing, trying to completely empty my mind of everything around me and everything already in my mind, then yeah i do.

None of this 'white ball of healing light' stuff.

Heh... "Imagine that your pain is a white ball of healing light... Yes, YOUR PAIN IS A WHITE BALL OF HEALING LIGHT!" :D

I usually put on my headphones and play some music... and let my thoughts take me where they will while I lie perfectly still. I also do a little meditation where I just repeat a phrase or word over and over again; that works nicely as well.

Late at night, when the hosue is quiet I'll go out on a my little deck, where the moon hangs over the lake. Curl up in my chair, close my eyes and listen to the rain fall.

I meditate 2 times a day ..... If I didn't I don't know what I would do . I have done it for so many years. I can be doing anything and transform myself into a state relaxation .

I use and focas on my breathing in a sitting position. I focas on my breathing and don't try to tune everything out. I embrace it. And then I put myself in a state of mind that no other place can provide.

i start by beginning deep breathing and imagining myself in an aluminum john boat just floating on the water...listening to the waves lap at the hull...when i'm relaxed i imagine gathering a cosmic sort of energy from all around me and from all reaches of the universe...as i inhale i bring in the positive energy...hold my breath for a second or two and imagine the energy flowing inside me in a circular motion and cleansing my body, blood stream and mind and then exhale all of the negative energy or impurities from my body...after a while i feel cleansed and can concentrate on whatever it was i wanted to meditate about in the first place...very relaxing and very productive....

Meditation, as a form of relaxation as well as experiential journeys, is a wonderful way to slow down, re-energize, and enjoy some alone time. I write guided meditations and have shared them with several classes in school as well as during other activities, although I've also worked with candle, crystal, "healing ball of light", tarot card, moon, mantra, and other types of meditation and have found that they all work well for me in different situations.

Some of my favorite places to "visit" are:
My Hawaiian waterfall glade
Sitting high on a rock at midnight during the full moon in the Black Hills looking over "the Stronghold"
At midnight walking through the mountain forests of the Rockies with the full moon sparkling off the tiny grains of fresh snow

Morgaine, yours sounds so wonderful!

I too like to put myself in other places .... I live right now near the Rockies and go there often . I live in the desert where I climb up on a red rock.... with a pool and trees at the bottom. And I greet the morning Sun ..... I fly over the ocean .. I smell the water and hear the dolphins talking to one another. I fly to the tops of the mountains and smell the wilde flowers .... I listen to a brook babble and the chip monks chatter to one another.
And watch the rivers flow to the oceans white with foam ...

i meditate..thinking of my master's hands upon my body...feeling his eyes reading this post and feeling his cock get hard under my hand....I meditate...his lips, teeth scrap against my neck...I meditate....

your pool boy likes water too.... lol

Hey stranger .. wanna go out for a walk in the rain with me?

Yes, yet not enough.

I usually imagine a very still candle flame while doing some breathing control and hopefully falling into a slow rhythm which sustains itself... then when my thoughts wander I try to guide them back to stillness, imagining that the candle flickers in the breeze of the thoughts.

(AV joke)

I run on the sand between 5 and 10 miles every morning. The run begins in darkness but by the end, the sky over the Pacific is beginning to reflect the various pinks and yellows of a new day.

At the end of the run, I go to a secluded section where MY SPOT is located on the sand. While stretching, I let my mind drift, finding an inner peace, and tranquility that brings a smile to my face, and lets me get ready to face the dragons of the Day.

I meditate I guess when I lay in bed...(its the most comfy place for me...) and turn on my Enya CDs...or LOTR soundtrack...something intrumental...I try to tense up my feet..then up to my face...I feel my energy building up to about my forehead...then I try and let it go....just let it flow with me and carry me away...unfortunatly I often don't know where I go...if I travel anywhere...but Vikki has Visted me a few times...but that my friends is another way of meditation!!!:p

I don't tend to meditate -- mostly because it never really occurs to me to do so. Sometimes, however, when I'm really tired but my racing mind won't let me fall asleep, I do an exercise where I concentrate on nothing but my body, relaxing it from the tips of my toes to the top of my head. It's strange to think about when I'm fully conscious, and I guess I feel a little weird admitting that I do something like that because I don't feel like the kind of person to meditate and fly over oceans and whatnot... But when I'm tired and need sleep, there's nothing like silently instructing each part of my body to relax, focusing on the spreading leaden feeling crawling slowly up my legs, stomach, arms, and head... kind of like how night falls on the land. :) Of course, it only works 50% of the time, lol... but I try!

I do a little zazen now and then. I'm handicapped by the fact that I just can't reach even a half-lotus; my hips don't rotate that far. So I try a little bit of circle walking Taoist meditation too.

meditation

As a Tibetan Buddhist, I meditate 2 times a day as part of daily practice... a combination of silent mantra recitation and visualization.

 pet:heart:
