Medicare 4 All.

Um, Jimbo, you do realize that this is just a re-branding of health care reform? Says so right there in the article. It's the same thing you've been ranting against in other threads.

I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm glad you've seen the light. Just seems a bit strange.

At any rate, welcome aboard. Glad to have you.

Same position as the most progressive house Dems. If any proposed health care policy should be called socialism, this be it.

Say what you will about Jimbo, but he's apparently hell-bent on making both the left and the right blow their gaskets.

A few months ago I suggested Medicare for all, everyone pays in to it already, and you know what it is. Part-timers are included. You gotta have a social security number to get it, so that leaves the Mexicans out in the rain. Hooray.

Uh, JBJ, in order to get a job many places, a Mexican illegal has to have a Social Security number. Thus, we have 'Juan Hernandez, SS# 123-45-6789' already working in every state, from Maine to California, plus Alaska and Hawaii.

This really is hilarious. Look at the sponsors of this idea. Mike Ross (D-Ark.), Jim Oberstar (D-Minn.), and of course Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

You're aware that non-citizens can get Social Security cards, aren't you, James? This plan would include no protections from those darn dirty Mexicans that aren't already in place. The Baucus Plan, on the other hand, would specifically exclude them.

Man, if I was just a little bit more of a prick I'd quote and link this in my sig. JBJ, noted liberal health care advocate. :D

I've never opposed MEDICARE or SOCIAL SECURITY Retirement-Disability. I oppose how theyre managed and dupe recipients, but the abuses can be fixed, and I oppose how the government and free enterprise fuck people over in terms of qualifying for the benefit.

When I worked for the union a fixed amount was paid by union contractors to my health-welfare fund. But union rules denied benefits unless and until I worked 1000 hours, regardless of how much money my employer paid for me. And if union management didnt like you, you never made 1000 hours during the pre-qualifying period. If you worked 999 hours, too bad, so sad.

I oppose all the monkey business and bull-shit and games goverment-business play with health benefits. It would be very simple to construct plans that provide basic medical assistance for part-timers (5 office visits, 2 ER vists, & inpatirent) or other plans that provide different levels of service for more money.
