I know a lot of people want this guy dead.
But I still say we keep him alive until we know for sure what went on.
Late breaking news.
We do not want a martyr. I say we are rushing too quickly to execution and he is too willing to die. He need to be left alone with his conscience for about 20 years until he can come to grip with the truth of what he did and make proper atonement to the victims.

20 years?

Twenty years of him taking up space in prison and us paying for him to be there????

I've heard a lot about this guy, but only here at the BB, so I can't comment authoratively on the specifics of his case as such. But what constitutes 'proper atonement'? I'd like to know, from a broader perspective if you like ...

McVeigh has already made it clear that he feels no remorse for what he did. Why can't people understand that? 20 days or 20 years will not make a difference to someone like this. Unfortunately, not everyone has a conscience, I think McVeigh is one of these. Dead or alive, he will be considered a martyr by some group. Visit the OKC memorial & then try to tell me that he deserves to live.

Consider yourself lucky. Since I live in Indiana, I cannot watch the news without hearing something about his execution and how they are preapring for it. They should have just strung him up from the nearest tree as soon as he was pronounced guilty.

I would prefer that a tall lamp post be used to 'string' him up. A VERY public display without any fancy trappings.

This cretian will never show remorse, he HAS admitted to the crime ( according to CNN this a.m.) and apparently did so without even a hint of sorrow/remorse.

So, kill him and be done with it.

Sorry sack of siberian sheep shit.

IMHO seeking vengeance diminishes all of us. Acting out our shock at what appears unthinkable, i.e., that a human being would murder innocent women and children, may feel good for a moment, but it hardens the heart. Our rage against McVeigh is no different than his at the government over Waco and Ruby Ridge. You may claim moral superiority because his death is "state sanctioned," but all you're doing is splitting hairs. Either life is sacred or it's not. That he acted unconscionably is no justification for the rest of us to become savages and scream for blood.

Coming to terms with tragic loss is unbelievably painful as we witness for the people of Oklahoma City. One can have compassion for them even as one struggles to try to make sense of such horror. It's the human condition folks, not simply one or two aberrant individuals. People we love die around us in circumstances that range from mundane to horrific. Its an illusion to believe that obtaining revenge will make the world safer, or ease our disquiet with how fragile life is.

The man wishes to die, and I will not condemn him for that. His wishes should be honored. He didn't know that there were children in that building. I'm sure the guilt is eating him alive. What has happened to compassion? Are we so filled with hate that we can't forget or forgive?

Myst - He knew everything about that building including the fact that there was a daycare in that building. He did not care. He wanted to make a statement. He was successful.

I might find a little compasion for him if cared about the hundreds of lives that he has ruined. He doesnt. All he was after was revenge on the federal goverment. He got his. Now we are going to get ours.

I think a Gengis Khan said it best," Revenge is a dish best served cold."

Finding compassion in your heart is for you, not for him. What McVeigh did or how he feels about it has nothing to do with it.

Compassion is the ultimate and most meaningful embodiment of emotional maturity. It is through compassion that a person achieves the highest peak and deepest reach in his or her search for self-fulfillment.

McVeigh, that's all that is on the news today. And we have another month of this media circus. He should die in prison like Manson. Funny how the religious right is quick to defend a fetus, but the first ones to pick up a stone when it's "killing time" Didn't Jesus say something about he who without sin cast the first stone?

Woah, wait a minute. Did you mean Manson was dead? Or that he should rot in prison like Mnson till he dies. Did I miss something?

Charlie is still hanging in there. If only they could swap him with Marilyn Manson

Thought for a moment I had missed something. He is going to live forever.
Marilyn... don't get me started.

McVeigh has received a reprieve because the FBI FAILED
to make some evidence available to the defense during his trial--so he's got another 30 days or so.

How ironic that the issue surfaces _now_.

McVeigh has publicly declared...

...he wants to die. Whether he's telling the truth or or not only he can tell, but if you take his statement at face value then you are playing into the hands of a mass murderer who wants to gain the maximum publicity for his act. You are still dancing to his tune.

Killing him is the quick fix, the instant satisfaction that you have revenged the death of your loved ones, but killing him is not going to stop other perverted minds carrying out similar acts of violence in the future.

And once he's dead, what then? Will relatives of the murdered feel any satisfaction or will they feel frustrated that the punishment is over too quickly. Will they still feel the need for some sort of revenge but with nowhere to go if the object of their hatred is already dead and the law tells them that it's all over?

Execution does not stop copy-cat crimes - witness the drug laws of SE Asia. What is needed is a punishment which will be so horrendous that it would make others think twice before perpetrating similar deeds. It probably won't stop them from carrying out those deeds, there are always madmen who are willing to destroy the world to prove a point, but it would give the relatives of the victims, and quite a large number of others judging from what I've been reading, an ongoing revenge satisfaction which eventually should play itself out.

Apart from amputating him digit by digit then limb by limb without anaesthetic until he has to spend the rest of his life in a state of vegetable paralysis I can't think of one. Can you?

Two scenarios:

Scenario 1) McVeigh executed, big media hubbub, lot's of people get their revenge fix, millions of dollars spent on bloodsucker's (lawyers) fees and security, the true story of the consiracy dies with McVeigh.

Scenario 2) A day in the life of Timothy McVeigh, my way:

5:00 a.m. Rousted out of bed.

5:15 a.m. Forced cold shower.

5:30 a.m. Cold oatmeal for breakfast.

5:45 a.m. Anally raped by Aryan Nations Brothers.

6:15 a.m. Cleans shitters with toothbrush and dixie cup.

8:15 a.m Picking cotton by hand, or whatever's in season. Nothing in season? Break rocks.

12:00 p.m. Hard tack and rancid bacon for lunch.

12:15 p.m. Anally raped by Crips brothers.

12:45 p.m. Asbestos insulation removal in the nude.

5:00 p.m Allowed to have single bowel movement for the day.

5:15 p.m. Cold liver and onion sandwich for dinner.

5:30 p.m. Anally raped by Lowrider Nazi brothers.

6:00 p.m. Beaten by guards for whining during last rape.

7:00 p.m. Kitchen duty cleaning garbage cans.

11:00 p.m. Lights out. Too tired to jerk off.

2:00 a.m. A big fat brown rat crawls across McVeighs face and craps in his mouth. McVeigh dreams of cold liver and onions again.

Every day, 365 days a year for the rest of his miserable life. No tv, no magazines, no weight sets, no conjugal visits, no parole. Just a family size jug of preparation H.

Yeah...

...that's more or less what I meant Problem Child...

oops

OK, juss my final ramblings before I hit the sack. According to an NPR program today (and that doesn't mean any of this is right or wrong) -

McVey did know there was a daycare center and 'regretted the collateral damage'...make what you will of those words...

the stuff the FBI has now discovered would not be required to be turned over to the defense under ordinary rules of evidence because it is not relevant...but the FBI agreed to some kinda of special extra ordinary procedures (why is McVey deserving?) and now they are hoisted by their own generosity...

and as for Charley...the last time they let him outa jail before the whole 'family' thing and the murders (he had spent more than half his life in jail)...he begged them to keep him in...he said he loved being in jail, he belonged in jail...and he would just be back if they let him out...oops...the point being...apparently life in jail ain't a punishment for everyone?

me? I am against the death penalty juss causs I'm easy I guess...oh...except for that guy in another thread who would rape to get new pussy except he's too afraid of jail time...him? I'd chew his nuts off and watch him bleed to death...so...oops?...maybe not so easy?

Hey Problem Child? I LIKE liver and onions!

How bout cold Spam? or am I being picky? Now I really am going to bed.
