McDonald's has agreed to pay $700,000 in damages to a Michigan Muslim community after serving up McNuggets that weren't prepared in accordance with Islamic dietary law. There are only two McDonald's in the U.S. that serve a halal menu (both are in heavily Muslim communities in Dearborn, Mich.), which means that the items are pork-free and "God's name [is] invoked before an animal providing meat for consumption is slaughtered." According to a lawsuit, when one of the restaurants ran out of halal product, it sold non-halal McMeals instead. "McDonald's … took this case very seriously," the attorney for one Dearborn resident said. "They made it clear they wanted to resolve this."

There's a market for halal meat in two of their stores. So they filled the market niche. You don't understand this capitalism thing at all, do you?
