I voted for my Senator only at the outset when he was succeeding the great Barry M. Goldwater. I have regretted that for three decades. He was barely a conservative; certainly not worthy of Goldwater's seat.

Within two years, his easy corruptability was the least of the problems. He is a glib liar who has no problem tossing anyone else under the bus to save his own hide. When you read obituaries you can tell a lot about a him by seeing who damns him with failing praise and who elevates him. He worked hard to appease people that are fundamentally opposed to liberty.

The same people who helped elevate his Republican presidential primary status were the ones who gave us Trump as well. In both cases the only reason why they did so was because they assumed that that would be the easier candidate to beat.

The only bright spot for me was that he taught me early on the folly of voting a straight, party-line ticket.
