Compared to the Cultural Revolution era, the Chinese are a lot less sensitive to criticism and have made a lot of progress in the last 20 years. I was in Beijing and Chengdu in the 80's. The level of development varied a lot but they were no worse off than rural Mexicans in general. Lousy plumbing though.

The Pix of Beijing Olymipcs showed me how much they have developed. They still have bad smog problems and a coal fired economy.

But to open a Sex theme Park! Wow! That took a lot of negotiation I'll bet to get people to see that regardless of who controls the economy, that at the local level there is some flexibility.

China has more than ONE BILLION dum fucks to feed. A few work in American factories (prisoners), but most Chinese still look at the ass end of a mule every day of their lives. Its their enormous population that deceives Western asshats. Give every fishing village one outboard motor, give every farming hamlet one irrigation pump, and the total dollar value looks gigantic.

The Chinese cant fathom efficiency. If a large city was moved, it was moved one brick at a time.
