So I go in the bedroom to kiss Thing 1 and Thing 2 goodnight. I guess I got there a little earlier than normal, because lo and behold, Thing 2 is standing ON TOP of his crib, with a foot on each railing lecturing his brother.

He takes one look at me, knows I'm about to get apoplectic, and does a forward flip into bed.

So, do I throttle him for scaring the shit out of me or hug him for sticking the landing?

Well inquiring minds want to know, what was the lecture about?

Yes, what Was the lecture about?

I believe it was instructional, since only one had managed to scale the heights.

Hmm, you might want to consider a gag to prevent one Thing from instructing the other Thing on how best to raise Dad's blood pressure in the shortest amount of time possible.

:D

Sounds like it's time to get rid of the cribs because if he can scale the heights he's going to be climbing out anyway.

Here's the thing...

The thing is, if he can stick the landing you've missed a LOT of practices.

Oh, they climb in and out now - the crib hasn't restrained them for almost a year. Hell, I wish that was the highest thing they would climb on!

They have beds...we are still transitioning them into them. Ane we are not taking down the cribs because we need them again.

Uh, the voice of experience here, gotta stop the climbing in and out before the cribs are needed again.

If you ever want the new occupants to get any sleep not interrupted by Things.

we will actually lock that room in another two months or so so that there will be a few months where no one is there.

Then it shouldn't be such a big deal when the new owner takes it :)

Smart move.

Oh, the stories you'll have when the Things begin to assert their ownership rights over the new one.

:)
