I've just been reading the Time on-line news about this chap Norwood, HMO and GWB.

All this is probably old news to you but I've got to comment on it (even though it's about US internal and not external affairs).

So this bloke Norwood agrees to back Bush's plan over HMO.

When he returns to his home state and is asked by his supporters how he could fold like that he confessed he didn't know exactly what sort of deal he'd made with the President.

That Bush! You've got to hand it to him...

:D :D

Word has it...

That Norwood was basically held incommunicado for many hours under maximal pressure. He didn't meet directly with Bush until the end, after many of Bush's henchmen had worked him over. He wasn't enabled to call his legislative partners, and even missed a meeting with them.

Norwood has truly blown his 15 minutes of fame, knuckling under the moment the fist came down. Can you imagine his colleagues believing him in future deal-makings? Pathetic.

The bit I didn't mention from the Time story was that Bush apparantly said that Norwood wasn't going to leave until he had come to an agreement. Even if it only meant him (Bush) escorting Norwood to his automobile and giving him the thumbs up sign!

This is the stuff of drama!
