Can we all at least agree on this one incontrovertible axiom, as a starting point for any and all discussion of election-related legislation or policy?

Herding millions of uninformed, unmotivated voters to the polls is a recipe for disaster.

Can we all at least agree on this one incontrovertible axiom,

. . . reliable expression of the public will. Which is what elections are supposed to be all about.

'Pubs only want qualified votes, which to them means only those that are likely to vote 'Pub. They've made no bones about the notion that the more people that vote, the less likely 'Pubs will be elected. This whole drive is with that in mind ... keep the votes low, keep the votes red.

I think what you're saying is that an informed voter is a GOP voter, no?

I used to live in Brazil, where it was illegal NOT to vote. Elected representatives in Brazil make the Star Wars cantina look like a the Roman Senate.

You mean, they're that diverse?

Yes, there are morons, thieves, mountebanks, wire-pullers, glad-handing liars of all color and creed.

When idiots vote, idiots are elected. It's a representative government, no?

If that's what the people are, that's what their government should be. Democracy is the rule of the people -- it is as good as the people are, or as bad.
