A quote from a story, not behind a paywall I believe.
Tristan Buckmaster, an NYU mathematician who, alongside another academic, published research on the problem on Monday, said on Tuesday that OpenAI might have used his conversations with AI chatbots, including OpenAI's, to arrive at a solution. OpenAI said it couldn't rule out that "de-identified data derived from their usage of our products helped improve our models." To go a bit off track, one pet peeve of mine is why companies pressuring everyone to use AI trust the AI companies, to NOT someday enter the company’s industry as a competitor, using the data and trade secrets literally given to them, by people from that company itself.
AI as we know it is theft-based. That’s the real reason you should oppose it. Feel free to worry about heat and water and data centers and disruption and rules of three, whatever else. The real enemy is the theft. AI as it exists today wouldn’t exist without it.
I feel bad about this post. There wasn’t even one AI post on page one of the AH as of the moment in time I’m posting this.
