Seven more Republican leaders have announced their endorsement for Pennsylvania's Democratic candidate for governor Josh Shapiro, following photos of GOP state Sen. Doug Mastriano wearing a Confederate military uniform.

This comes one month after nine Republicans vowed to support the Democratic candidate and called Mastriano an "extremist" who threatens American democracy.
According to a statement released by the Shapiro campaign on Tuesday, the group includes Michael Chertoff, the former US Secretary of Homeland Security under President George W. Bush, and Mario Civera, a former state representative.

anne coulter on trump: "he's done"

She concluded with a central message to Republicans, collectively. "You don’t need to suck up to Trump anymore, conservative talk radio hosts, talk TV hosts, Republicans running for office,” she announced. “He’s done. He’s over.”

she's as poisonous as he is, and started speaking out against him a while back, but now she's set on winning republicans back to their own toxic, pre/post trump brand

The uniform thing needs context. There are an awful lot of Civil War re-enactors out there for both sides. Simply having, wearing or posing for pictures in grey doesn't mean a whole lot.

sorry, thought i'd replied to this ages ago: as i read it, there was some political bash being held... can't remember if it was to do with an old college or uni, or a workplace thing. But of perhaps 30 something attending who were given the option of dressing up as a historical figure who'd inspired the attendee, only 6 dressed up and mastriano opted to come in the guise of some civil war general. Other attendees were a bit shocked to see him wearing what he did. I might not be dead right on those details but it was certainly along those lines.

edit: it's all in the original OP link

a do at a US Army War college he was on the faculty of at the time. 6 of 20 chose to dress up.

It's fair to want the full story before you condemn the man, but knowing what we know about Mastriano, his being a Confederate sympathizer passes the smell test.
