mass?

hi you little sexual, intelectual, whos appeal is perpetual.

whats shakin on this very GREY monday afternoon.

oy vey what IS with the weather? I'm certainly glad I'll be vacationing in beautiful, warm, and sunny Denmark this winter break! HAH

how was yer weekend pancake mix?

Hey,
Just saw this post, it's good to have another mass post back on here, they're rare. And not only do I live in the five college area, I go to one of them, of course the best one, UMass.

oy UMass is Not the best school in the 5 college area for a whole host of reasons. Lets just say....teaching 75 students and getting them to talk/answer questions is like trying to find brain cells in our president's head. They are SSSOOO ignorant these kids. I guess it's neat that they wont challenge my ideas in a poli sci class...but what kind of adults will these people be? "Yes'em!" "How high would you like me to jump?"
Aside from that, they can't write, they don't follow the news, and when given the option to actually LEAVE class if they don't want to be there....they aren't even paying attention!
So in conclusion, I'd gather that...oh...Amherst, one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country, is just a slightly better academic environment than this horribly apathetic campus. Which, might I add, is falling apart. But instead, they chose to re-landscape it? Hello - fill pot holes. Fix the fact that bricks are falling out of the sky thanks to the stupidly 27 story library. Yeah - who the FUCK makes a library 27 stories? Need books? Get you running shoes on because you'll be going up stairs. Bring your classes because you can't expect all the light bulbs to work!
Ok, enough. Time to go to school!

Hope you all have wonderful weekends.
Hi Bizzzq

Interesting.....

wish I was a student still...never had any problem challenging a teachers proclamations...particularly in poli sci....but apathy is the worst in anyone....how are you lovely young lass????

My joy is knowing I have basically 2 more classes....then I never have to see 'em again! Unless, of course, they fail and have to take the class again. A very real possibility for many of them. Hope you all have a lovely day. Time for 2 1/2 hours on Russian politics!

Ahhh yes young minds.....her and then ( the best part) ...GONE!!!

Have a great day yourself Bare...

Hey Hey Hey,
Calm... Yeah I agree there are some problems, but hey, where aren't there? And i'm not talking about liberal arts, and i wasn't even that serious. But since you brought it up, UMass is one of the best research universitites in the country, it was rated in the top 25 for graduate work in chemistry recently, and i have never been in one class for my major that had more than 50 kids in it, all of which are some of the most intelligent people i know. So before you go bashing an entire school for the reputation of a few drunk abercrombie kids, think of the big picture.

I apologize, let's not argue here, this is suppose to be fun!

It's great that science is important here - biological and physical. However, if one is a "student", one should not only be interested in their major. If that's the case, go to a technical school. While an undergrad poli sci/philosophy major, I had to take BS science classes, but I still participated and gave the prof/TA respect by being awake and prepared for class.
I think it is too much for me to ask the same of the students in my class who are in SOM or bio....

I agree, and I only mention my major classes because they are under 50. Sadly going to a large university means that a lot of required classes, or in this case gen-eds, will have a lot more than that in them. And whether someone is interested in other classes besides their major doesn't make them a bad person or a bad student, but i do think you need to rescpect the person teaching and try to get as much out of it as you can. Well, for me, it's time for class.

i hate to tell you (and you probably already know), apathy is like a plinko chip....it just clunks on down to the next generation of students....I have not been to a college in the last 5 years where students didnt feel like doing their work was absolute torture, and not at all worthwhile.

if they don't want to do work - don't go to college. there are plenty of economically disadvantaged students who would LOVE to be in there in their place

word

students

My, My, My,,,, don't you know, students are wonderful creatures!

the fact that they should be locked up and studied (most of them anyway) just to see if they have a logical or rational brain in their heads is not the point... just that since they are there should be enough for the poor teacher.... How sad that one day they will awaken and realize the opportunity they had has slipped away and then they will pass on their ignorance to their off-spring and so the genetic strain will continue unabated...

Re: students

the world will end in a few years so why go to college anyway...give me a beer dude WOOOO ROCK N ROLL!

the end is near

Damn, and I just took a ten year subscription to young bride... what a waste....

What - did a former crack addict make you subscribe?

what a good movie.

And...only students who live in the middle of nowhere riot! UMass, WVU, Penn State.....never in civilized parts of the world! hehe

I don't know about you, but i loved the riots, i mean, there's nothing better than watching some drunk asshole get the shit beat out of him by 50 cops in riot gear. And I have the perfect view too.

right - again, I stress that these people PAY to act out like this. Why don't they just work at McDonalds, live in their parents houses, and save everyone the trouble of having the hear about the irresponsible behavior that goes on in that dorm complex? Wonder how many abortions/love children have come out of that living environment...
