Don't know how many Marvel fans are out there...I've never been a focused, crazy fan of their stuff, but always enjoyed it when I did read their comic books.

With this Spiderman movie, which I thought was excellent, something occured to me.

I'm willing to bet Stan Lee and other comic book authors have never gotten the credit or respect from the larger media industry that they deserve, what with the stigma attached to comic books. I could be wrong, but I think it's a good bet.

I was impressed with the story of Spiderman and the gut renching ironies. I hope more respect comes their way, it would certainly be deserving.

And is Stan Lee still writing, or has he passed away, or what...?

Stans contract at Marvel was terminated. He is a freelancer right now working for DC on a line of books call Stan Lee's Just imagine. Where he re-interpets their characters. Plus he just opened up a new company after his last one went belly up last year.

Thanks Ice, have you read his stuff post-Marvel? Is it good, worth while? Any Spiderman novelization adaptations you could recommend?

Stan Lee made a small cameo in Spiderman. He pulls a little girl out of the way of a falling balcony.

He also had a cameo in X-Men, he was the hotdog vender at the beach.

Not True.

Lee Still has a contract at Marvel.
It is less restrictive than his old one allowing him to do the DC stuff. He is still at marvel though.

For me, I think you have to be a classic fan of Stan Lee to fully enjoy the stories... trying to think what he has done so far off the top of my head.

Superman
Batman
Wonderwoman
Green Lantern
Aquaman.

Thanks Pheonyx, I knew he was allowed to work for others, but didn't know if he was still associated with Marvel in any capacity.

Anyone agree that Stan and people have'nt gotten enough recognition? And that Spiderman may go towards rectifying that? of course his name isn't cropping up at all with the buzz, not that I've heard.

Or am I off them mark?

Stan gets some props... Saw an entertainment arcticle on the news last week that had Stan in it, and what he was working on.
They mentioned him being a consultant on the Hulk movie and Daredevil... Actually saw a preview for the Hulk on ET.

It will probably one of those things where Stan becomes more famous after he passes away, then the appreciation he deserves right now.
