Rogue
I was caught up in the visions...couldnt break out. The alien faces swirled all around me and something...something was in the background. A Skrull face but somehow it was something more. I couldnt stop the movements of the vision long enough to latch onto that one face though I had the feeling it was important to what was happening...or going to happen.
Suddenly something broke in...thoughts that belonged neither to me nor to the alien thoughts that were ringing in my head. A male voice boomed through me...sad and lonely...full of confusion but strong in resolve. A surge of energy and strength followed the voice like an infusion. I couldnt make out what it was saying but all of a sudden the face before me was not of the aliens but of a man...a familiar man. I had met him before.
Then a face in a mask appeared beside the man's and they beging to move around in a circular motion...faster and faster until they merged into one. As if a stroke of lightening hit me I knew who the faces belonged to...and I knew that they were one and the same.
I found myself sitting upright, the alien language and faces gone, replaced by that of...oh god no! I looked over to where Spiderman was holding my bare hand, a trembling going through his body. If I had lifted up his mask I know what I would have found. Not just the face but the look of horror and pain. I had seen it on the face of the first boy I had ever kissed.
Pulling away with an agility I had never had before, I tore my hand away from his grip with a cry. "No!," I cried as I rolled nimbly away from him. Looking back, I saw him fall to the ground, the trembling coursing through his body.
Scrambling over to Spiderman, I caught myself before I lifted his mask. I knew who he was...or at least the face that was under the mask though not the name but I had no right to expose that to anyone else. My hand went to his shoulder where his costume would protect him from further harm. Shaking him slightly, I said,"Come on, be alright!" Dammit! why did he have to go and sacrifice himself like that?
