I'm curious to see how everyone here views the concept of "Civil Union" versus Marriage. Let's pretend for a moment that we could have either. Would you rather have marriage unconditionally, or do you like the idea of the civil union more? Why?

Not being particularly religious, I was initially ambivalent about it. But then I applied some thought to the concept and realized that in my opinion, allowing any sort of difference creates room for legal manuvering and that it must be legalized as marriage. But that's just me

What about you?

Im with you.
The thing is, whats the difference from a legal point of view?
If little King George got his way and made gay marriage unconstitutional what exactly would that mean? Would it keep companies from being benefits to same sex partners?
Any way you look at it, if there are 2 different things, they arent legal. Either everyone should get be allowed to get married or nobody should. If civil union is good enough for us it ought to be good enough for everybody.

Exactly. I heart you, MzChrista.

I'm with yas!

I'm bisexual, but I should have the right to marry a woman if I so choose!

Which I might if it's legalized ;)

They could certainly use it an excuse not to do so.
