For a treat on hot days, my dog likes Dogsters, some frozen stuff that looks like ice cream and comes in flavors like Peanut Butter-Carrot.

It occurs to me that if dogs had a food budget and were able to respond to advertising, neither carrots nor peanut butter would make the list of most popular flavors.

Flavors my dog would buy:

Beached Whale Surprise (see 35th anniversary thread for related video)

Kitty Litterbox Royale

Roadkill Du Jour

Stuff On Sidewalk

What about cats? They're portrayed as fans of tuna fish, but isn't that because pet food manufacturers don't think you cat owners will buy canned mouse?

Cat don't really like people tuna fish. In the middle of a tuna fish is a plank of dark red tissue that powers a tuna fish. The dark red tissue is not fishy, it is FISHY! Cats love the dark red stuff.

Dark Red Tissue is one of those names that never gets past the committee.

Cat food versus dog food

Catfood is marketed to the owner of the pet more than dogfood, I think. Little froo-froo pictures on dainty cans. And the taste is emphasized more. Maybe because you might have to eat some someday? But honestly, have you seen the price of catfood lately? You might as well buy human food!

As for dogs, although the marketing is targeted at the owner, the benefit to the pet is emphasized more than with cats. But what do I know. I have a cat!

LOLOLOL

My parents make their dog food, they found a recipes for it online. Too bad I haven't been able to find one for my cats.

As for meals my cats would love?

It moved so I ate it.
Feathers and all.
Mouse Surprised.
You're eating it? I want it.
Hey it was sitting there on the counter.

Of course deserts would be something like:
Fifi the Poodle next door.
Yipping delight.
Palmetto Bug on the wing.
The ever popular Iced Chihauhua.

And for Breakfast they just have to have the Catnip Tea.

Cat

Sorry... I have a dog.

peanut butter is a word in his vocabulary... he thinks it means sit by the refrigerator until boss puts some of the brown stuff on a dog biscuit.

Some other dog food faves:

Poodle Butt
Baby Diaper Puree

My old cat had very definite tastes in cat foo. She was happy to eat whatever you bought her, so long as you bought it in small quantities. If you were buying one can, or even sometimes the packs of four, then she'd eat it. Try sneaking bulk-buy into the cupboards and she'd instantly decide she didn't like it anymore.

No wonder I didn't like her.

The Earl

I have some big trees in the back yard and one of them is a big pecan tree. So naturally the squirrells have a hole-house in a nearby tree. It is way up there but sometimes I will see cute lil heads sticking out of the hole when they have babies.

Apparently one of the babies fell out of the tree, my mixed breed doggie is not exactly a rescue dog, the noises was terrible. By the time I investigated with a flashlight, I decided it was too late for the emergency room at the any nearby squirrell hospital.

Scooter had fun playin with it for over an hour, fighting it and throwin it and stuffs, when it stopped makin fun noises he got bored and came inside. I was gonna do something with it the next morning but it was gone, I guess the neighbors cat took a present home to master.

Scooter likes the favorite doggie foods like french fries and chicken, but he is also strange and likes green beans.

I am sure he would love a baby squirrell flavored food or chewy treat, but I think his favorite would be:

HUMAN BUTT.

Our outside cat's favorite flavors:
Shrew Feet
Cardinal Heads
Baby Barn Swallows

Leftover Canned Cat Food

Our inside cats' favorite flavors:
Canned cat food, but just the juice or gravy

(We spend a lot of time in the cat food aisle, shaking the cans and listening for the sloshing sounds.)
