So, I have written a few stories and I think those that have read them did enjoy them.

How do I get more readership now, ye veteran Lit authors? Any secrets that you would be willing to share here? Or you can message me.

Keep on writing. If people like your stories they'll let others know and keep coming back.

Entering contests gets your name out there, or so they say.

When you write something really good it takes on a life of its own. It spreads everywhere because it appeals to everyone. No one markets gold and diamond mines.

Participating on the boards helps too, especially on story feedback and other places that newbies hover...

Like any new product coming on the market - you need promotion - let the punters know you are there.

You must be 'known', in that people recognize your author name; that gets people clicking. Being on the boards (AH, Story Feedback and others) will help.

Also, good story titles, strong action openings and good editing (tedious) help.

Posting on Story Feedback to ask for comments generates interest - so does finding a teasing line to go after the story title.

Really, it's a snowball thing.

The best think I can suggest is -

A) Pick a catagory to write that your are comfortable with and stick with it. Personally, most of my stories are in Humor & Satire. That's not the most popular catagory. The Romance and Hard Fucking catagories are much more popular and better read.

B) Stick too it. Every story you write will be better than the last. Writing is a learning process.

C) Read a lot. The best writers are avid readers.

D) Do with Elle said. Post asking for feedback in the FB Forum and post in the AH. Make yourself and your stories known.

E) Don't be strange like me.

Copyright??????

I am a newbie and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to copyright my stories? I am new to the forum world and have never submitted a story before. But I have a few I would like to share. Shouldn't I copyright them first?

Your help greatly appreciated.

One suggestion I haven't seen here yet. Add a link to your stories in your sig line. That way, when you post something witty, some people might click the link to learn more about you and your stories. I have the link, I'm just not witty enough.

BACarter:
An editor once chastised me for not including at the beginning of the story:
"By JRaven © ALWAYS put this on anything you put on the net, or send to anyone else, even your editor!"
Merely posting on the Internet automatically implies a copyright. Stories that are copied from Literotica and posted on other sites are in violation of copyright law. Manu and Laurel (the site owners) persue such theives and will get the stolen story taken down from a web site.
