i'm getting violin lessons now and i'm getting them the hard way! a pleasant new fella from oklahoma has decided to help me along my way in learning fiddle by teaching with a very firm hand! (well, paddle really) it's much harder to concentrate when sitting backwards in a chair and having your ass popped each time you screw up! but i'm certainly motivated to practice now!

it's fun learning new things this way, what are some of the things you guys have taught/learned like this?

No, haven't learned anything like that. Would make an interesting teaching method though. Will have to keep that in mind for future use.
Sounds like you're going to be a good violinist by the end of all this.;)

... does he give cello lessions? I think I have the wrong instructor.

::crosses arms and huffs:: you're getting all the fun lately!
(can also be read as: sadly, no, I haven't!)

good luck, and don't let your wrist touch the neck.

i had another lesson tonight! i had to go through the scales from string 1-4 and back again. it was very difficult, and i'm quite marked! but i really am getting better, and i finally have real motivation to practice!

We have applied music. They range from level 1 to level 6, I sat at the end of the year recitle (their final) and all I could think of, is how much different the playing would be (in level one-two) if they had your instructer. hehe.

Learning to play was hard enough. I can't imagine learning to play under pressure...

;)
