Sanford was pretty much hounded out of office after blatantly cheating on his wife and lying about where he was so he could go visit his mistress (and now second wife) in Argentina (I think). Palin just quit because she wasn't getting enough attention as governor of Alaska.

Yeah, but wasn't there some question about whether he used state funds on his trip? At the very least, he left the country without telling folks, for non-gov't activity. Not a good thing for a leader to do.

Yeah, Sanford said he was destressing somewhere in the Appalacians, Palin quit, Weiner destressed on Twitter and now he wants to run for NYC mayor. Bill Clinton seems to be the only one able to screw around and keep his job. Would be nice if those elected would not screw around while they're in office. It would save taxpayer money as well as having to hear about the crappy sex lives of those in office.

Actually, Sanford stayed in office until the end of his term. He didn't resign. And he hasn't married his Argentinian lady yet. They are engaged, according to local news reports.
