In a new filing reported by The Messenger's Adam Klasfeld, special counsel Jack Smith demolished a claim by former President Donald Trump's valet and body man Walt Nauta that the prosecution in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case illegally released sealed grand jury information.

Specifically, Smith revealed that the material in question was actually authorized for release by a judge in the first place.

"[P]ermission for such a public disclosure was expressly granted under a prior Government motion and the Court's corresponding order," said the filing, noting that it included information on a conflicts hearing, the "facts and dates of the hearing," and resulting appointment of a public defender. Furthermore, "In the motion, the Government explained its intended use of the materials related to the conflicts hearing."

The former president addressed two criminal cases he's facing: one involving classified documents found at Mar-a-Lago after he left office and one in which he's accused of trying to overturn the 2020 Georgia election results.

As he did previously on Truth Social, Trump denied he sought to have security footage at his private residence destroyed.

"The Security Tapes from Mar-a-Lago that evil and sinister prosecutor, Deranged Jack Smith, 'leaked’ or otherwise stated were deleted or altered were, in fact, NOT deleted or altered," Trump posted at 1:35 a.m. Saturday.

"It was a Fake Story put out by the government THUGS. Those tapes were openly handed over, without protest or litigation, and then the 'Deranged One' makes me look as bad as possible. The whole case is FAKE because I come under the Presidential Records Act. [President Joe] Biden or [former Vice President Mike] Pence did not!"

I would have loved to see Trump tear up the bail agreement, call Big Fani's bluff and force her to jail the President. The Secret Service would have exerted their federal authority and taken over the entire jail forcing Fani to release all of the inhabitants to protect the President. They'd probably make her clean up the dump as well. The next day there would be thousands of people demonstrating across the street from all over the nation. It would have been a fun circus watching their charade fall apart since it has never been about the charges from the beginning.

I've never acknowledged those classified documents were retained illegally, quite the opposite. I've posted the legal evidence as well as court decisions supportiing his right to his documents. Recall the Bill Clinton case, where I posted the following court findings from that case:

with the management and even the disposal of Presidential records during his time in office, it

Page 2 of the filing says: "Further, undersigned counsel no longer represents those three individuals, and new independent counsel is being made available to advise them going forward."

The witnesses (who need legal representation, why?) are dropping the Trump-funded lawyer as soon as they speak to a proper attorney.

They were required to get new counsel after a legal determination that there is a conflict of interest in one lawyer representing them all.

Thus they didn't "drop" the "Trump-funded lawyer," they got fired by "the Trump-funded lawyer."
