Manchin Net Favorable Rating Drops 29 Points

after Reconciliation Deal

Senator Joe Manchin’s favorable ratings are in free fall since striking a deal with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to pass the reconciliation bill.

Earlier, Charlie flagged a YouGov poll finding that just 12 percent of Americans believe the bill, dubbed the Inflation Reduction Act, would actually reduce inflation.

But the polling for Manchin is also brutal. It finds that 51 percent of registered voters now have an unfavorable opinion of him, compared to just 21 percent who have a favorable view. In the same poll last month, Manchin was nearly even, with 34 percent favorable and 35 percent favorable.

That means that in a matter of a few weeks, Manchin’s favorability dropped a net 29 points! And there’s no way that can be attributable to anything other than his public support for the Democrats tax, spend, Obamacare expansion, and IRS audit bill.

To be clear, this is not a poll of his home state of West Virginia, and it is unclear whether Manchin will even run again when he is up for reelection in 2024.

He sold his constituents out.

Lmao...poor Republicans were.boondoggled by a Democrat in GOPs clothing

If his support of the bill costs him re-election (not likely, given that it's two years away and anything can happen in that time), at least he'll have redeemed himself a little bit.

Some things can only be redeemed by hottest fire in the deepest portions of hell. Manchin is one of them.

I do have to hand it to him, he's been loved and hated by members of both parties equally

They called it the "Inflation Reduction Act" to fool people like you into thinking it had anything to do with reducing inflation. It won't fool the people of West Virginia though when they see what he did to their primary industry and cost of living.

They called it that because it reduces inflation

What primary industry? Coal? Anyone with half a brain knows the coal industry is dying by the day and the time to find an alternative is NOW.
But you're probably right, the people who were dumb enough to believe Trump when he said he'd bring coal back will probably fall for the Republic Party rhetoric on this bill as well.

"To be clear this is not a poll of his home state of West Virginia"

Quoted from Rightguide's original reference in his post. It is of course the only poll that matters.

And Manchin did nothing to damage the WV Coal industry; that was killed off by the sulfur environmental regulation of May 1981. Now tell us RG, who was the lefty, progressive President who approved the ban on Sulfurus coal in 1981?

Who cares?
His constituents probably do.

Manchin fucked himself. He was probably thinking of not running for reelection anyway so this is his swan song of sorts.

The hilarious part is where all those R's were cheering for him as a good guy just because he stood in the way of Schummer and the BBB bill. Welcome to what D's do best - stab good hard working American's in the back.
