Man saves another and is given daughter

I have a simple idea of a reclusive man (probably military) saving another (heimlich maneuver possibly) the saved man gives hero his unmarried daughter as a reward.

Okay, that just doesn't happen. Fiction has to make more sense than that. If you want to go with this you need to either go fantasy or historical. Something where women are property that can be given away like that and it should probably be something a little more extreme than choking.

Mormons are known to do this. Not recently for most but the ones who do polygamy may still give daughters to men for various reasons. Not always was it because the guy saved someone either.

Not to say mormons of any variety are horrible people. They are just allowed to decide who their daughter marries most of the time. Daughters do get a choice in this but they are shoved a little hard when parents voice an opinion. Sons get to choose though parents do shove them at certain women.

1) Girl is unapproachable until the protagonist saves her father. Not exactly "giving her to him", but could make a decent plot.

2) Girl likes the protagonist, but won't submit to his advances because her father does not approve of him. Protagonist saves father's life, gives protagonist his blessing.

4) Alternate reality: Isolated group of people need outside sperm donors, protagonist saves father's life, now he's it.
