Rise of Slave Patrols

Another type of policing came in the form of slave patrols, which were established in South Carolina during the 1700s. A law enacted in the mid-1700s forced slave owners to participate in slave patrols. However, by the mid-1800s, the members of slave patrols were typically men who owned neither land nor slaves.

The purpose of slave patrols was to keep slaves under control. Slave patrols were in charge of checking the passes of traveling slaves and looking for contraband such as pens or paper since it was illegal for slaves to read or write, and they were always on the lookout for runaway slaves. Slave patrols also policed the religious worship of slaves. It was illegal for slaves to practice their native religions. Slave patrols had a slave patrol badge that indicated they were part of a slave patrol. Modern police officers also carry a badge to indicate that they are police officers.~

I'm seriously starting to think the popo have very rarely been on the correct side of history. At least not as far as major events and not day to day crap.

Use of Force and Violence: As union activities became more pronounced, confrontations became inevitable. Management often resorted to hiring private security agencies, most notably the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, to break strikes and intimidate workers. This occasionally resulted in violent confrontations, with the Homestead Strike of 1892 and the Pullman Strike of 1894 serving as stark examples of the lengths to which management would go to quash union activities.~

I'll spare you the Civil Rights, drug wars and current events part of the story cus there isn't much point in it. We are, like I'm sure most citizens of of most countries are, so fucking indoctrinated that teaching us anything that went beyond very the stuff you might well just watch 'We were soldiers', 'Band of Brothers','Selma' and just for lulz Hulk Hogan vs The Iron Sheik'. It will prepare them for the history this nation in a better way than where were are now.
