Man charged over girlfriend found stuck on toilet

A man in America whose girlfriend sat on the toilet for so long she became stuck to the seat has been charged with her mistreatment.

Kory McFarren, 37, of Ness City, Kansas, called police last month saying there was something wrong with Pam Babcock.

Officers arrived to find she been sitting on the lavatory for a month. They had to prise the seat off with a crowbar so she could be taken to hospital with it still attached to her legs.

McFarren said Babcock, 35, was scared to leave the bathroom. He was not sure how long she had been in there, but said she may have been in there for up to two years.

He took her food and water every day and repeatedly asked her to come out, to which she usually replied "maybe tomorrow", he told the Ness County sheriff's office.

McFarren has been charged with the mistreatment of a dependent adult, and will appear before a court next month.

Craig Crosswhite, the Ness County attorney, said: "I looked at the statutes and spoke to the attorney general's office. This was a very unusual set of circumstances, and this is the law that most closely applied to the situation."

McFarren said: "The only thing I am guilty of is I didn't get her help sooner."

Babcock had been sitting on the lavatory for so long that open sores had developed on her legs, causing her to stick to the seat. Her skin had begun to grow around the seat.

She was found sitting upright, fully clothed, with her tracksuit trousers pulled up to mid-thigh. "She would have to be sleeping on the toilet," said Sheriff Bryan Whipple.

He said she seemed "somewhat disorientated" and her legs appeared to have atrophied. But she told officers she did not need help and did not want to leave.

She has since refused to speak to the police, and officials said it was unclear whether she had a mental or physical disability.

Babcock was taken to hospital in Wichita where doctors said an infection in her legs had caused nerve damage that could mean she has to use a wheelchair. She remains in hospital.

Unclear?

I'm sorry -- but unless he was her legal guardian, charging him for abiding by her stated wishes is just ludicrous.

What if he has a mental disability? I mean really, he did have two years to react and didn't. I think that makes him just as out of it as she is.

I think the charge, though silly, is prolly correct. Rather than allow her to perch on the throne for a month he should have called for help.

At the very least he should be fined for the cost of prying her fat ass off the pot.

Edit: Who wants to bet that toilet seat will show up on EBay? :D

and worse, someone will actually buy it

My thoughts in order:
they must have more than one bathroom with a toilet.
he fed her in the bathroom?
doesn't she work?
what if there was a fire?
Its hard to fall asleep on a toilet.
What about bathing?
no sex :(
They both sound vulnerable.
"maybe tomorrow" sounds like she had a positive attitude

Assuming she's not psychotic, she's agoraphobic. Might even be severely OCD. Living in a bathroom has happened before.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, a Miami man finds Jesus' image in a patch of bathroom mildew.

Coincidence?

"I was taking a shower and something told me to look to the left," Theo Grimes said. "First thing that came to my mind – that's Jesus."

Grimes said he believes the image is a miracle.

"I'm the type of person, I notice every little thing," he said.

He said his first reaction was to grab a towel, cover up and yell for his wife.

"I'm going to keep it real, I was screaming," Grimes said.

"At first I thought something happened because he yelled for me and I ran in there and thought he fell or something," Laquan Joyner said.
Joyner then took a look for herself.

"So, I called her so she could come in," Grimes said. "I didn't want to say, 'Does that look like Jesus?' because I wanted her real response. 'Who does that look like?' She looks at it and said, 'Woo, that's Jesus.'"

The South Florida couple isn't the first to make these claims. One man said the image of Jesus came up on his X-ray. Parishioners at a church said they saw the shadow of both Jesus and the Virgin Mary. A San Diego resident said the image of Jesus was on his tortilla.

Grimes said his bathroom has become a prayer room.

"I'm not cleaning it," he said. "It's my praying room."

The Grimes family was debating whether to keep the image or wipe it away. EBay is also an option.

He notices every little thing, but apparently doesn't do anything about it - who'd let mildew grow to the stage where there was a recognisable image in it? ewwwwwwww.

<sighs> why the hell do I get sick when I'm so busy? Back to work.

I suspect that he was charged so that the authorities have some power to act. From what little we know they both seem to be dysfunctional.

A court could order treatment for one or both of them.
