When penetrating his ass, is the strap-on device itself an integral part of this role -- can I not achieve the same success by holding the dildo in my hand? Again, new to the lifestyle!

I think it would depend on exactly what the man is looking for from anal play. For me its mostly about the feeling of her doing anything to that area, so a strap on isn't necessary. If I'm playing with someone who I know has done their homework, who I trust to not break/cut/burn/nerve-damage me, and they bring out their own dildo (or buttplug, or whatever), I'm most likely going to trust that they've sterilized their toys, too.

But maybe I'm too trusting? It's entirely possible.

And I do have my own dildo (that I bought at IML It's amazing), but it never leaves my bedside.
