Making minor alterations to a story

Two of my stories take place in the same universe, and blend together. 'Invisible Schoolgirl' invokes a character from 'Perverted Shapeshifter' and the latter half of 'Invisible Schoolgirl' is Perverted Shapeshifter' from a different POV.

In my shortsightedness, I did not put a link at the intro of 'Invisible Schoolgirl' so that people can get the whole story. I was wondering if it was possible to submit such an edit. I don't want to have to copy and paste the entire story if at all possible; I just want to tack on a different intro (in the part where I state that all characters are 18).

Unfortunately, any edit to the text of a story requires submitting the entire text again with the modifications, and that includes changes to opening and closing notes.

Is it still submit a story and then put edit after the title? Will I lose the votes/rating? Will it be recycled through the new section again?

Not as long as you use the same title down and add EDIT. Everything stays the same for views and ratings, they just drop your edited piece in. I put a small little blurb into the comments at the bottom of the submit page as a backup too.

The only thing that will change is the text, if that's the type of edit you're submitting. You'll retain your votes, views, etc. It won't go through the new section again. All that stuff only happens if you delete the story and resubmit it.

Keep in mind that once the submission with the "edit" notation vanishes, it will take at least 24 hours ( Laurel says 48, but I've never seen it take that long ) for the changes to appear on the public side. So don't panic if it doesn't look like the changes were made until you've waited at least that long.

Thanks for the good info and the first question. I've got a story with a key spelling mistake I want to fix.

As a variation to the original question, I was wondering about changing a title. I'm assuming that I have to delete the story and submit as a new story - minus votes, views, and comments.

Nope. Treat it exactly as a text edit, but fill both the "story text" and "notes" section of the submission with the title change request. You won't lose anything. Only the title will be changed.

Same applies to keywords and description.
