Making an example of a suspected leaker, Podesta style

The Democratic National Committee staffer who was gunned down on July 10 on a Washington, D.C., street just steps from his home had leaked thousands of internal emails to WikiLeaks.
Julian Assange, the tool who runs WikiLeaks, suggested this last summer, but he's not exactly a credible source. Now, a federal investigator has confirmed it.
In any case, 12 days after Seth Rich was shot from behind, WikiLeaks published the damning internal DNC emails — damning not because WikiLeaks released them or "the Russians" hacked them, but because of what Democrats themselves were saying behind closed doors.
And then you've got John Podesta emailing, "I'm definitely for making an example of a suspected leaker whether or not we have any real basis for it."

I never understood why people don't want to accept that their govts. might be capable of such things, when they've surely done bad things on a larger scale.

It's improbable that Hillary had much to do with the shooting, but someone else did. To send a message or whatever.

What would they have had to gain with that?
Because they'd have had enough grief and loss of votes with the emails reveal. Why add to that any suspicion of murder?
