Major Television Networks Have Accepted Defeat
The major Television News networks have stopped resisting.
They are giving Trump what he wants. They are portraying Trump as he would wish them to.
gsgs comment For fuck's sake. I do not demand coverage of Trump that is hostile in tone. I do expect neutrality. Do not present news footage in the same manner as an opinion piece. Give us the facts! I do not accept a Pro-Trump news announcer, giving Trump flattering coverage of Trump, in the faces of viewers across America- on major news networks. If I wanted to give attention to someone kissing and licking Trump's ego, I could watch FOX TV "news."
I understand a neutral stance is dry, factual, and un-exciting. That is the opposite of what television tries to achieve.
Television tries to attract attention, by giving stimulating visuals, (attractive people, pleasant voices, welcoming and positive facial expressions. Noises attract attention, during film footage. A tone of tension and urgency, if spilled blood is the main offering. Television seeks to entertain.
Info- tainment!
Anyone with a mind that has the capacity to make simple calculations, could see where news coverage was heading. The minute Ex-FOX TV "personalities" were hired to speak on major network programs, it was a deviation towards Pro-Trump coverage.
Just as Trump had boosted his campaign numbers by culturing a following of the fringe, major news networks were seeking to boost their viewer numbers, by offering fringe viewers what they actively persue.
The major news network's battle mirrors the political battle taking place. The wars are won by a thin margin. The networks want viewers, the politicians want voters. We have seen how Republicans have disregarded their main base , and disregarded their preferences, in order to gain a thin margin of advantage.
The gamble was that the majority of viewers/ voters would not like it, but would not reject the insertion actively, and tolerate the insertion.
The reward was a larger share, over a competitor's share.
What, and how much was sacrificed ? Everything that gave it value.
The baby was thrown out with the bath water.
