"Well, you were wearing one when I made my grand appearance in your Father's Court after our return from Kraala. He remembered that one well enough. My memories were a little... less than helpful for some strange reason. The nakedness was not that big an issue for the seamstress, but my imagination kept getting in the way." He blushed heavily. "Don't worry, nothing was seen, I was able to close off my thoughts about you very quickly."
Len felt a nice shiver run through his arm when Mel took it. They walked through the hall towards the gardens, Len noticing something not being right with Mel by the way her grip on his arm changed. He glanced at her. She seemed to be in thought over something. He held his tongue. If she wanted to talk of whatever was going on in her mind, she would mention it.
"Your home is lovely Len."
"Thank you, Mel."
As they progressed through the various hallways to reach the gardens, various workers stopped to pay the respects. Len surprised just about all of them by turning to look at them, and thanking them. Courtiers paused, bowing or curtseying to the couple as they passed, and all had the good decency to say nothing while the two were within earshot.
Finally the left the confines of the inside and stepped out into the Royal Gardens. Flowers, trees and other plants from the all the valleys that made up Noden grew within the garden. Over the centuries, the flowers had been arranged carefully for the best effect of colour and fragrance. Several birds chattered loudly to each other as they went about their daily lives.
"One of the least effect areas with respect to magic. One of the earlier Kings wanted everything to be as natural as possible. So, the plants are left to grow as they like, but are trimmed and cared for as required. There are some implements that have been enchanted to make the tasks easier, but the plants do as they do in the wild.
"Plus, as you can hear, there are quite a few birds that have taken up homes here. There is one kind, that in the wild, will attack anything that comes close to the nest. Those that live here ignore us, as long as we ignore their nests."
Len walked Mel along one of the gravel paths between flower beds in full bloom with a rainbow of coloured flowers mixed together. The perfume filled the air, sweeping away worries like dry leaves on a wind.
"Shall we walk, find somewhere to sit, or a mix of the two perhaps?"
