Magic Shave Question

ok, to answer my own question just in case there were any other fellow Canadians wondering, i found it in shoppers drugmart.

bought it, tried it, and i must admit...i am impressed

need a 2nd opinion ??

Anyone here (male) ever try Nadz wax or Nair For Men?

In anticipation of the arrival of a toy I've ordered, I shaved the prostate area the other day with a disposable razor blade while the area was damp after a shower. (Then, of course, I threw the blade cartridge away.)

Lastly, it'd be interesting to know how common shaving the genital area is among Lit. men, straight (as I am) or gay.

For those of you having trouble finding Magic. I looked for months, first looking with the nair type products, and then in the Black mens hair care products. Just recently someone listed the full name of the product on this site as "Magic. Razorless beard remover for black men." Last night finally found it with the shaving products - razors etc. Yeah - finally found it. Did patch test this morning, didn't feel anything. Should do a complete job tomorrow.

I have a basic question being new to the hair issue. Do the creams remove the whole hair like waxing does so there is no stuble? I like no hair but not enough to deal with that damn stuble itch.
Also i was thinking to get the timing right i would make it a two person job . any tips on that, or is it better to do it yourself?

The way I understand it, creams remove the hair to just below the surface of the skin. That means that it stays gone longer than shaving, but not as long as waxing, which pulls hair out by the root.

I have noticed that when I used creams, and especially if I used a very thick lotion afterward, the hair grew finer than it did before.

And hey...isn't everything with even a hint of sexuality BETTER when it is made into a two-person event?

From a die-hard waxer's perspective, when I've tried both razors and creams I've experienced itching and stubble. The razor was worse than the cream, but the cream still left me stubbly and itchy enough to turn me off to it. I just have an aversion to walking around feeling like I need to scratch my twat.

Good point, PinkOrchid. Today, I tried the Nair For Men one last time today to get the hair removal started. It worked, but it was messy as heck and STUNK! That was the last time I'll use that stuff. I might go back to the drugstore and get some wax one day soon. In the meantime, I'll be using shaving cream with aloe in it and a disposable razor VERY carefully. Wax hurts like hell, but like you said, it's better than walking around with the urge to scratch yourself.

In my experience, the stubble with Magic is much softer and definitely not itchy. I think the itchiness with stubble is that the skin is dry and the Magic has moisturizers to help with that.

hi,
I really didn't have time to read all throught this thread but i have used nair(sp?) and it left rashes thingys from burning the hair off. I hate shaveing so much does anyone know of a product that i can use like nair that dosen't burn the hair?

I used the Magic with Aloe and vitamins. Don't ever use it after working out and sweating!LOL OUCHIE....I was just trying to do a smooth removal , ridding the sides and making a landing strip ... I ended up getting it all over my ummm well you know... and in less then say 5 or 6 minutes all I did was wipe and it was ALL gone ... smooooth all over. Just at the sides where I sweated from working out was it sensitive . I should have waited awhile. But Hands down , Magic works. And NO STINK.

Buying VS Making Wax

I always love to save money. I'm perpetually broke until some of these bills are paid off, so the more I can make and not have to buy the better I like the product.
Someone was saying they would go out and buy some hair removal wax soon. Why bother, when you can make and try some at home before you spend (sometimes a LOT) money on something just to try it? Granted, I wish I could give a recipe for Magic but have yet to discover one.

Anyhow, if you'd like to try making your own wax, here's a pretty good recipe:

Homemade NADS recipe

fabric strips (muslin works best, or old pillowcases, stuff like that)

Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup honey or syrup
Mix up, microwave for 2 mins or until caramel color.

Spread as thinly as possible with the direction of the hair and pull off in the opposite direction. Use other hand to pull skin taut while pulling. Keep in a tub of hot water during use to keep warm, don't put on too thick or it will stick to skin, hurt and not pull hairs out. Wash legs first and rinse with cold water (if hair is greasy it won't stick and cold helps with the pain). I also suggest keeping hands damp and wiping area with a damp cloth immediately. The strips can be washed in hot water (sugar is soluble), and iron once dry because if they are creased you may get an uneven result.

If you'd like, add a few drops of tea tree essential oil, as it is a natural anti-inflammatory and disinfectant. And lack of inflammation is always a good thing.

I am constantly searching for new spiffy spa-type recipes, to include bath fizzy ball things, bath salts, body scrubs, etc. If you'd like recipes, want to be a guinea pig for my next endeavor, or have recipes you wouldn't mind sharing, PM ME!!!!!

After suffering from the itching associated with shaving, I used Epil-stop once, found it not very effective, tried nair, which worked. Recently I looked all over kingdom come for some Magic, but came up empty-handed. Walmart, K Mart, drug stores... no one carries it in my neck of the woods.

Sooooo, I bought some Surgi Wax microwaveable wax and pondered it for a couple of days. Could I do it? I finally got up the nerve to heat the wax, and tried a tiny little area to see how bad it might hurt. (I hate pain!) It wasn't bad at all, so I did the whole pubic mound area. I think what helped was that I worked with very small areas each time, no larger than a quarter. It's not nearly as painful as I thought it would be. Perfectly smooth, no irritation, and I won't have to do it again for a long time. I think the box estimated 8 weeks, but even a month without irritation would be great, in my eyes. (I do continue to use a razor on the more delicate areas, but that takes about 30 seconds in the shower)

I'm sold on the stuff, big time. I can't see ever wanting to go back to shaving or depilitories.

I may even do my legs now!

For those that do wax, (or even those that still use a razor), there is a product out there called Kalo. It is a hair growth inhibitor and will help stop unwanted hair from growing back. Use this product after waxing, again that night and twice more the next day. You do not need to use it again till the next time that you wax.

It is sold by proffesionals so you have to call around. I have used this product with great success and I found that the hair that does grow back (it takes a little time to work) is finer and easier to wax the next time.

Sorry to resurrect an old (but good) thread... but a question here.

I used to get this bump away stuff from sally's beauty supply. I would use it, had to use it, once a day post shave or I was a mess of bumpy itchiness.

Problem 1: It smelled
Problem 2: It burned
Problem 3: It tastes horrid (which is no fun for the person sampling)


What should one use to avoid the post-hair-removal blues (well, actually, more like lots of little red bumps, ouch!)?
