I think we've all seen a TV show or movie where someone can draw on the wall, or in the air, with a set of crayons or chalk and have those images become real. What if the person who got the magic crayons was a terrible artist?

He wants to draw a woman who'll love (alright fuck) him, but he can only draw stick figures or deformed creatures that would make picasso ill. The stick figures never flesh out, the deformities don't magically get better.

Anyway, he then uses his crayons to try to attract women. MAybe even going so far as to draw a jail cell around her, once he realizes that cartoon flowers don't cut it.

I used to have a book called "Harold and the Purple Crayon" that deeply affected me. It was very similar in basic concept. Of course, this was a kid's book, and I was seven, but the idea does work. Would be a natural to add the erotic element.

That is a unique idea! I remember seeing that cartoon on channel two when I was younger. True, kids do grow up, your way of thinking evolves (quickly if you're a little boy) even when I was sixteen I would draw picks of myself and ...ahem certain guys in my classes. Ooooh, get a 19 year old guy with a magic charcoal he draws pics of slutty looking girls and at midnite, they could come to life! :catroar:

This would make a hilarious little animation or series of animations (or still cartoons). Kind of vaguely reminds me of the Salad Fingers Episode where an obsessed admirer puts Salad Fingers in a cage. Maybe you could find someone on deviant art or an animation-specific forum who would want to adopt this idea?

I remember the childrens program. Also there was an episode in one of the modern Dr Who series. Or was it whoever was drawn got locked in a painting?

Anyway, would it be more realistic if the drawing didn't come to life. Instead the drawings become true at a later date, say in the next few weeks or something.

All someone has to do to make their fantasy, whatever the setting be, come true, is to draw it accurately. Somehow events would unfold, and however willing or unwilling, things would make it happen.

A really easy basis for a series.

I remember that book.
It got a Newberry, right next to Flat Stanly and The Big Red Dog.
It was also a filmstrip, about a world that was black and white.
A 12 year old boy came and took a magic box of crayons (loved the purple one) and colored the world.
Over the next few years, he added rainbows of colors everywhere (filmstrip artist Peter Max, alternate artist Andy Warhol).

The book and (PBS) TV show you are thinking of is about a child with a magic piece of chalk, drawing on a school chalkboard.
The main character is a stick figure named Harold, and the boy draws portles into this world of chalk (Narnia style) he can jump into.
It's called "Chalkworld", and can currently be seen very early on Saturday and/or Sunday morning on PBS (in north America).

You may also be able to catch repeats on weekdays on Nick Jr. or Cartoon Network.

You probably can't find that show anywhere.
This is because I forgot the exact name.
The book was called Chalkworld, but they updated the show for the 90s, and it became "Chalk Zone".
