Magic anyone?

I just love writing about things I know nothing about.

I need to pick the brain of anyone who has any knowledge about, and is willing to share some thoughts on, the fine art of illusions. Specifically, those sleight of hand illusions that can be performed by the illusionist at audience level. I'm not looking for any secrets to the feats, only enough explanation to be able to write the scene well.

Think anyone can help me out?
