I just want to play on my pan-pipes
I just want to drink me some wine
As soon as your born you start dying
So you might as well have a good time
Jeremiah was a bullfrog
Was a good friend of mine
I never understood a word he said
But I'd help him drink his wine

MInsue, i want to wring your neck for not adding the title and artist- that is such a nice little bit of poem!
I don't want to work
I just want to bang on the drum all day
I don't want to play
I just want to bang on the drum all day (Todd Rundgren wrote it)

The way I see it, I just can’t win it
Everybody’s in it for their own game
You can’t please them all
There’s always somebody callin’ you down
And I do my best and I do good business
As a lot of people asking for my time
They’re trying to get ahead
And try and be a good friend of mine ("Free man in Paris" Joni Mitchell)

Oops! It's Cake, Sheep Go To Heaven.

I’m not feeling alright today
I’m not feeling that great
I’m not catching on fire today
love has started to fade
I’m not going to smile today
I’m not gonna laugh
you're out living it up today
I’ve got dues to pay

And the grave-digger puts on the forceps
The stone mason does all the work
The barber can give you a haircut
The carpenter can take you out to lunch

I just want to play on my pan-pipes
I just want to drink me some wine
as soon as your born you start dying
so you might as well have a good time

Sheep go to heaven
Goats go to hell
Sheep go to heaven
Goats… go to hell

I don't wanna go to sunset strip
I don't wanna feel the emptiness
bold marquees with stupid band names
I don't wanna go to sunset strip
I don't wanna go to sunset strip
I don't wanna feel the emptiness
Bold marquees with stupid band names
I don't wanna go to sunset strip

And the grave-digger puts on the forceps
The stone mason does all the work
The barber can give you a haircut
The carpenter can take you out to lunch

I just want to play on my pan-pipes
I just want to drink me some wine
As soon as your born you start dying

Sheep go to heaven
Goats go to hell

a golden bird that flies away, a candle's fickle flame
to think i held you yesterday, your love was just a game

you tell me that you love me so, you tell me that you care
but when i need you, baby....

~Cake (again) Never There

Black bird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arrive

Broken bicycles,
Old busted chains,
With busted handle bars
Out in the rain.
Somebody must
Have an orphanage for
All these things that nobody
Wants any more
September's reminding July
It's time to be saying good-bye.

~ Tom Waits, Broken Bicycles
Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you.

Can I describe what it's like
To have sex with the lights on?
And would ya feel right if I did ya tonight?
And put the bite on?

All this and more little girl
How bout on the floor little girl
No time to implore ya girl
I'm just a dead boy
You know that I'm just a dead boy
I wanna be a dead boy
I'll die for you, if you want me to

~ Dead Boys, All This And More
Take this pink ribbon off my eyes
I'm exposed
And it's no big surprise
Don't you think I know
Exactly where I stand
This world is forcing me
To hold your hand
'Cause I'm just a girl, little 'ol me
Don't let me out of your sight
I'm just a girl, all pretty and petite
So don't let me have any rights

Girl, you'll be a woman... soon

I love you so much, can't count all the ways
I've died for you girl and all they can say is
"He's not your kind"
They never get tired of putting me down
And I'll never know when I come around
What I'm gonna find
Don't let them make up your mind.
Don't you know...

~ Urge Overkill

Don't you cry tonight
I still love you baby
Don't you cry tonight
There's a heaven above you baby

Mama, take this badge off of me
I can't use it anymore.
It's gettin' dark, too dark for me to see
I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door.

Well I'm just sick and tired of talking on the phone
Sitting in your rom conversing all alone
Talk, talk, talk, talk, talking about everybody else
But what you really rather do is talking about yourself,so......

Don't talk to me, don't talk
Don't talk to me, don't talk
Don't talk to me, don't talk
You don't talk to me, don't talk

~ GG Allin, Don't Talk to Me
I'm waiting by the phone
Waiting for you to call me up
and tell me I'm not alone

Too fast, too fast for love

:D

(good to see you, Mags  )

We must play our lives like soldiers in the field.
The life is short
I'm running faster all the time.
Strength and beauty destined to decay
so cut the rose in full bloom.
Till the fearless come and the act is done

A love like blood
a love like blood.
Till the fearless come and the act is done

~ Killing Joke

nice to see you too

Running hard towards what used to be
Losing ground in changes sliding endlessly
Reaching out for mirrors hidden in the web
Painting lines upon your face inside instead

If anyone recognizes that...
Can you turn me on to some good weed?

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.

i dont recognize it...
but then it could be because I'm really high :D

I know a man
He came from my home town
He wore his passion for his woman
Like a thorny crown
He said Delores
I live in fear
My love for you's so overpowering
I'm afraid that I will disappear

Slip slidin' away
Slip slidin' away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you're slip slidin' away

That's Paul Simon, but the earlier one (Running Hard) was from a mid-70s British prog-rock group called Renaissance. The female vocalist, Annie Haslam, had the most wonderful, pure voice. The lyrics, however, were generally overwrought.

[edit to add] Thanks for the Pink Floyd, though. I needed a fix. :D

I wonder where your heart is
cause it sure don't feel like it's here
Sometimes I think you wish
that I would just disappear
Have I got it all wrong?
Have you felt this way long?
Are you already gone?

Do you feel lonely
when you're here by my side?
Does the sound of freedom
echo in your mind?
Do you wish you were by yourself
or that I was someone else
anyone else?

~ Martina McBride
